Anyone Used Scar Treatments? Empty Anyone Used Scar Treatments?

Post by sarahlou222 19th March 2015, 9:44 pm

I'm wondering whether it's worth getting a scar treatment (for a few weeks times)

I've seen reviews about RegimA Scar Treatment (£16 for 15ml)

and also silicone sheets, including Dermatix (4 for £12 last 1 weeks each)... has anyone had any experience of these treatments?

Was thinking of maybe doing one on one side one on the other, would anything be interested in my review of them if I did this? xx

I used the dermatix gel which gets good reviews. My surgeon said I didn't need to use it but if i wanted to try I could. Used it for the first 4ish months and my scars aren't great!!! But the reviews are good... Also used bio oil once a day.

For my shoulder lump scar I just used bio oil occasionally and scar is amazing! But who knows if that's anything to do with the oil difference!

I also bought kelo-cote after reading recommendations but never got round to even opening it! In fact it's still in my handbag after being delivered to work! Lazy!!

Scar treatments are really for those with problem scarring, keloid etc. If you've got normal healthy skin, it likely won't make a bit of difference. We've had girls come through who've tried them and had bad scarring, and others who never touched them and they're now invisible. Personally I'd say don't waste your money, but it's your call.

I got the tamanu balm that THG sell, and I think it's fab. Not as a scarring solution, but as a balm. Once I had the all clear to moisturise the scars, I'd rub that in and it sloughed away all the dead skin and made it baby soft. I also used it after my Stills, and my ankles were shedding like snakes from the swelling, and it just helps rid of the dead and heal for the new. But again, that's my preference, and every other girl will say something different!

From personal experience I would save yourself some money on expensive scar treatments, my inscisions didn't look very neat initially, they looked quite jagged looking, not nice straight lines like some others I had seen pics off (my surgeon used stitches , no glue & skin looked kind of puckered too) When I was given the go ahead from surgeon to massage incisions I used just a basic moisturiser to make massaging easier & they have healed/ faded to being barely visible.
Would put money saved towards nice bra's instead! Smike

No, they're a waste of money. Your skin will do what it wants to do. I never used anything and mine are virtually undetectable now.

My sisters a burns and plastics nurse and specialises in wound and scar care and same as above doesn't recommend using expensive scar creams unless keloid scarring etc! Invest the money on gorgeous bras and bikinis instead sarahlou222 xx

An inexpensive scar treatment is breaking open vitamin e capsules and applying the oil to your skin. Best to check with your surgeon first though x

Well that settles that then.
I'll keep an eye on the scars, only use treatment if they heal into a keloid scar (high risk with my skin type) and save the money for bras...
Thanks everyone!! group hug xx
