Budget question
Hi everyone,
I am am trying to figure out how to budget for the summer. I really want to have my boobs done and also do some travelling before. How much would you say you spent on BA related things in addition to the surgery itself. I am thinking of all the additional things you need such as recovery bras, v-pillow, all the extra things you need to spend money on really. I am just trying to get an idea on how much I need to budget in addition to the actual surgery cost.
Thanks x

Re: Budget question
If you're looking at a decent bra, its going to be £15-40, so high end lets say 2 bras, £80. V Pillow if you choose to get one, I think some girls have got it for around £15, plus a cover £5. Maybe a button down nightie from Primark, £5. Arnica if you want it, maybe about £10? Additional painkillers, £5-10? The rest of it really is everyday stuff, not one off. So I would say around £125-150. That's a complete guess off the top of my head though!

Re: Budget question
You may want a heat pack with strap for your back(due to hunching after op) you're looking at about £10.
I was advised about 4 cool packs which can be rotated for your boobies. So two on, while two are put in the freezer.
Zip up hoody for ease too? x

Re: Budget question
I didn't buy anything extra apart from bras. Didn't use a v pillow or ice packs, drugs were included and already had button/zip tops. But I did budget £500 for new underwear afterwards as I wanted to to start from scratch. This wasn't enough though!! Although it was good for basics and I've just been adding to it gradually. And I've spent about £80 on new bikinis.

Re: Budget question
Thank you for the advice. It doesn't sound like I will need to spend too much. I will make sure I have at least £200 set aside for surgery related spending and then I should hopefully be able to buy everything I need plus a few extra luxuries. And I will start saving for lovely new underwear straight away. Can't wait! xx

Re: Budget question
Hi I spent about a tenner of additional pain killers and laxative incase I needed it. 15 on a v pillow 15 on pyjamas. 90 on PO bras. I did spend a little extra on hairdressers as I couldn't wash my hair. That was 17 a time for 4 times. But you don't have to do that. Xxx

About £40 diesel ('A' will drive my car to and from the hospital 3 times in total) and I've driven 3 times already.

A tap adaptor so 'A' can wash my hair over the bath £6

I've heard this Arnica mentioned a few times; very quick google says gel or pill for bruising and muscle pain, I know you're awaiting your op, does anyone know how effective these are though? wondering if it's worth me grabbing some too! and in what form =) xx

Re: Budget question
Hi I would ask your surgeon first, don't take it without his say so xx

Re: Budget question
It's a natural remedy 'alternative medicine', to be honest you wouldn't know whether its making a difference or not because every girl is so different.
It's like bach flowers, I take mimulus every time I'm in fear of something I know about, an exam, customer meeting, when I had my driving test etc it may only be 'in my head' but it's never let me down.
My friend took 4 driving tests, she thought she would never pass, I gave her mimulus, told her to take it the night before and the morning of, got a phone call that day she passed her driving test!
Normally the tablet form is taken in this intense because you'd need the whole pot! And you will have bandages.
I asked my surgeon and he said go ahead if you want to.
I'd ask them but some may say 'oh it won't do anything'...
My dad does alternative medicine, reiki, colour balancing, Bach flowers. I think he believes in it to the extreme, I do believe it helps certain people :) xx

Re: Budget question
Thanks =) I'll ask the surgeon his thoughts and whatnot first, but it's something to keep in mind if theres a possibility for better healing =)
I've taken plant based calming products before, sadly they don't usually work for me, but hey ho, guess you don't know until you try lol xx

Re: Budget question
I personally don't think Arnica is worth bothering with at all IF you're not instructed to use it by your surgeon. Of course if your surgeon wants you to use it then in order to keep your aftercare you have to follow all of the advise given and you'd need to take it.
But if there's nothing said about it by your surgeon it's simply up to you if you want to use it...or not.
Ive used it with one surgery and not with another. My recovery was the same. Bruised like a peach both times... This is most likely due to there being no actual medical evidence to support the healing properties of Arnica at all.
I personally think any herbal remedy is all about what you believe. If you believe in the remedy in your mind then even if you had bruising, you'd say - the bruising would probably be a lot worse if I hadn't taken it lol
If you don't believe in it and had a great recovery, then you'd put it down to pure luck lol.
So it's a case of if your surgeon wants it used - use it.
If not, the decision is entirely yours and whether or not you believe in the power of herbal remedies.
