BA Saturday and really bad throat! Help!
Hi all
Due to have my BA Saturday and have a really sore throat and blocked nose! I do get tendancy to tonsilitis and am hoping that this isn't the case! Does anyone know whether this would affect my surgery? If it was postponed what happens money wise! Sorry if it's a silly question but so much has gone on in terms of organisation etc scared it's all going to go wrong at the last hurdle!

IF you had tonsillitis your urgent would have to be postponed due to increased risk of infection. You need to be 100% infection free Hun.
As for monies, you wouldn't have to pay anymore it'll just be a case of rearranging a new date.
Phone the clinic tomorrow and explain your situation and give them the heads up. X

You will need to be germ free. I had flu 2 weeks before my BA took anti biotics and thankfully it cleared. Get in touch with the clinic. X

If it's just the sniffles and a sore throat/laryngitis, you'll be fine, but do ring ahead. If it's an infection that requires antibiotics (tonsillitis or any chest infection), then you will need to postpone. It won't cost you a penny more, you'll just shift the date out.

Hopefully it's not tonsillitius
Maybe try gargling with salty water & make some homemade hot lemon/ honey drinks to boost your vit c intake.
It's not uncommon to feel unwell pre op , as others have said as long as there's no infection your op can go ahead as planned.
Let us know how you get on. XXX

I had a cold, cough & sore throat right before my op. Think it was the stress & worry! Ok the day I felt better and my temp was fine. Hope you don't get tonsillitis x

Thanks guys! Saw the nurse for preop today and she told me to call the gp if it gets worse tomorrow! I work in the NHS and nurse looked at my throat and although inflamed, there's no pus so hoping it's just a bad throat! Been taking paracetamol, home and lemon, drinking hot Lemon so doing all I can!! Fingers crossed!!
