BA this weds- got sore throat...will they op?
my throat is getting all dry and sore- am trying to fight it off- my mum has it and her neighbours really bad with it....nooooo!"!! I can't get ill now- BA on weds...am taking lots vit C, water, etc etc. is it just a definate 'no' if there is any slight illness? never had a GA before so no idea. I have to go this weekl or I won't be recovered in time for my work to restart, being self employed it's hard to organise...oh no...think am panicking!!

I think as long as it's not on your chest ( no pun intended!) they'll prob do it. I had a sore throat but was ok to go ahead. I've heard vicks ( i think?) first defence is good at warding off things as long as it's taken at the very beginning.
Best of luck hun

I had the start of a cold & dry tickly throat just before my op and I was fine. I agree, think it is If it turns into a chesty cough or something which requires antibiotics that they would postpone. Just keep dosing yourself up hun & I am sure you will be fine. Good luck for weds! xxx

They should do, I've had a headache since yesterday and my small one has a cold again! Fingers crossed we're both well enough for Wednesday! x

As long as your classed as fit you should be fine, I would ring them to let them know, but get lots of rest takes some vit c and you should be ok. x x x

Re: BA this weds- got sore throat...will they op?
I'm so glad you posted this jangledania! I've got the start of a cold coming, sore throat etc and my little ones have all got sneezes and snotty noses so i'm worried too. I've just had my pre op and she asked if i'd had a cold in the last month!! When i said i think i'm coming down with something now she said not to take any cold remedies, aspirin or ibuprofen as this can thin the blood? And they would have to see how bad i am on admission!
I soooo cannot postpone as my OH has to have the kids and he'll be away with work for 6 months just after Xmas and then on call for another 6 months!!! I'm trying not to panic.....

Nightmare... but you can take vitamin c- this will boost your system and fight off a cold... fingers crossed you'll be ok. A normal cold is fine- it's just if it goes to your chest- risk with the GA.

Re: BA this weds- got sore throat...will they op?
thanks girls!! sore throat pretty much gone! took lots of vit C, multi vit, vit d, honey and lemon, drank enough fluids, and gargled like mad with warm salt water, and once with aspirin- glad i didnt take any internally! anyway all that helped and especially the gargling and vit c i reckon- so get yoursel;f a good quality one and take up to 10,000mg a day- my gp said that's safe amount short term. try 'nature's own' 1000mg ones, online.
hope that helps....am now quite nervous but thankfully my friend is very sensible and stopping me from freaking out!!
good luck tomorrow Gucci, and good luck Cookie Z, you have plenty of time to shift the cold- just rest up as much as poss. xxx
