Weight gain during healing....and Christmas
So, as you all know I have struggled to kick my 4 times a week gym habit (plus one work out at home and being generally quite active)
I went back to the gym yesterday and took it fairly easy, just did legs and even those I pretty much started from the beginning weight wise. Im 9.5 weeks post op now and feeling much better. Still not ready for any arm work yet I don't think...
Anyway, in this 10 weeks since ive not been at the gym (its been that long as that was the last workout I could fit in) apart from a couple of failed attempts earlier on, ive only put on 3lbs...plus half a lb of boob hehehe
I don't feel so bad now! :)
And all you other ladies that will be /are off the gym recovering, try not to worry too much about it.
Im sure you will be pleasantly surprised too!
Jen x

Re: Weight gain during healing....and Christmas
Hi Jen. I'm an excersise addict took dupatta g on the weight is always a worry. I'm going out for my first cycle on Saturday. I don't feel like I have put on weight as such but I just feel flabby from the muscles not being toned. I deliberately didn't eat any Christmas food and took it easy on holiday. Putting on loads of weight for me is the end of the world. What's good about getting my boobs done before Christmas was I have time to get back on it before spring comes. I think it's the water retention and bloated belly that is a struggle with the BA. I'm pleased you haven't really put on the weight, it's horrible for some one who is active. Xxx

Same here, Anne! Its been horrible watching my toned body turn back to flabby shapelessness after I worked so hard to achieve it.
I just kept telling myself that I would have forever to fix my body but that I can only heal my boobs once :) it helped.....a bit.
Good luck for your first ride! Are you nervous? I bet you will be strapping those bad boys right down, its amazing how much vibration travels to the boobs when u cycle. And you don't notice until they hurt x

I'm starting this Saturday and it gives me a couple of months. I went back to work yesterday so now for me is a turning point. I really miss my bike. I was so fit before my BA. But I can get it back again. Have to be positive xxx

Re: Weight gain during healing....and Christmas
Ladies worrying about weight gain post-op really does concern me, because unless you actually plan to be a couch potato post-op sitting on the sofa watching moving with your box of chocs, your crips, your biscuits etc, you're really NOT going to gain weight.
I've also read a few times on here just of late about ladies wanting to drop pounds to allow for a weight gain post-op and this too is so unnecessary.
If we're all sensible, eat a healthy balanced diet which won't only help maintain your weight but will also help speed recovery and get yourself out for a couple of walks a day as soon as you feel up to it your weight will be fine.
So great thread Jen. Thank you for highlighting this
There's also a sticky on the subject [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Re: Weight gain during healing....and Christmas
Morning ladies,
I love walking, and walk the dog everyday for a couple of hours, really think it helps clear ur mind whilst still staying active - soooooo my question is.... Can I keep up the walking everyday after my BA just maybe cut it down to an hour ? X

I wouldn't have walked my dog until at least 2 weeks and the reason for that is my dog pulls on his lead. I was happy with a nice gentle stroll. Xxx

Absolutely. Infact, you're encouraged to get yourself up and about as soon as you feel able. It'll help with your healing and it'll also help you feel good.Roses27 wrote:Oh sorry forgot to say, I won't be walking the dog, ive poker her into kennels for a week and then hubby will be walki her for a few weeks, but what I meant was so as to stay active can I do a gentle stroll every day say maybe after the first week ? Slow and steady at first, maybe just a short walk building yourself to going out form ice long walks a couple of times a day if this is what you want. Xx
Re: Weight gain during healing....and Christmas
Oh I put on 8lbs of sheer bloat post op!! It kind of went and I didn't mind but I was absolutely gutted that I couldn't pig out over Xmas because I just felt SO full! It did help that going back to work after Xmas everyone else was also about half a stone heavier just from eating though....at least I could join in with the Xmas indulgence weight jokes...only they didn't know my indulgence was boobs not food ;)
What it did do though is really give me the kick up the backside to actually start eating healthily...and I'm actually enjoying it! :) x
