Re: Feeling low
Oh Holly c'mere
Yes, it's very common after surgery to feel low hun. We refer to it here as the booby blues and most of us will get it at some point in your recovery.
It's all down to the GA unsettling your hormones babe. It's horrible and there's nothing you can do but ride it out. Thankfully even at worst it doesn't last longer than a few days, so hang in there honey and we're all here for you even if it's for a chat or just a hug...we're right there for you Holly. Xx

Re: Feeling low
It's a total roller coaster ride the ba journey.
It's very common to feel really low, the excitement all before hand, then it's like an anti climax, the pain, the painkillers, restricted movement, disturbed and uncomfy sleep all affects how you feel so early post op, but around the week mark everyday you improve, each day gets a little better and easier x

Re: Feeling low
I'll be 3 weeks tomorrow and it was only this week that I have managed to cut out all pain relief, but still had some discomfort and slight pain in one side, but today I noticed that even that has now subsided. It's odd as you don't even notice when the discomfort fades, you just realise one day that it's not there.
Driving is still very uncomfortable, but I wonder if that's because I had unders? Not sure, but I hate changing gears at the mo, and I'm back feeding teh steering wheel like a learner driver haha. It takes me ages to reverse park now, or even reverse out!

Awww it makes you regret having it done in a way even though you will be so happy when everything settles but at the time it's horrendous xxx

Re: Feeling low
Even at the time, I had no regrets about having it done, the way I looked at it is was means to end, just had to muddle through and knew it was something that wouldn't last long and once through it be amazing

Re: Feeling low
At around 7 days or so post op I ended up a blubbering mess at GP , was there for something unrelated to my BA & GP happened to ask how I was doing , Q the uncontrollable tears, GP just kept handing me tissues ..bless , she didn't know what to do.Pain/discomfort, lack of sleep & even though you think you've prepared for it wonky/ strange looking boobs had all taken their toll on me.
Fortunately this weepy/low feeling soon disappeared once discomfort had passed & I was back getting a decent sleep at night, wonky boobs took a little longer but I just ignored them & didn't scrutinise them so much in the early days which helped.
I found focusing on the following week & telling myself how much better I would feel by then helped & you do feel sooo much better come then!
Having been through it & knowing what I know now, good & bad bits ( more bad in the early days) I'd still do it all again in an instant.
Sending you a BIG HUG in the meantime.XXX

Re: Feeling low
There were times that I questioned why I did this to myself...and more times when I was sure there was no light at the end of what felt like a very long tunnel. It is amazing how quickly you forget your journey pre op, and everything that led to you making the decision to get the op, BUT honestly, and this comes from someone who just last week was on here feeling crappy about everything, every day brings something new, and every day something hurts a little less, and feels a little better.
I'm not promising you a quick, easy recovery, but I will say that over the next week or so you'll be filled with all sorts of worries and niggles all boob related, and it really is totally normal, and we're all here to help.
I was someone who one night dreaded coming on and saying how rubbish i was feeling because i didn't want to put pre oppers off, but you know what, posts like this really are great, because it makes sure you are supported, but also makes post oppers further ahead realise how much has changed and got easier for them.
Sending you hugs xx

Re: Feeling low
Aaw, it will get better!
Im nearly 9 weeks po now and baked to oral pretty much movement wise nd even wearing big girl bras!
For the first probably 4 weeks I felt rubbish about my wonky boobs and couldn't face looking at them. That made me really down in the dumps!
It actually helps to eat really well, lots of fruit and veg, it helps clear everything out much quicker. And drink plenty too!
They give us some really hardcore drugs that mess with our delicate balance so its good to try and move those out as quickly as possible. You will soon feel better :) x
