Airport body scanner question.
I'm asking this question on behalf of someone else as they'd like a more varied view other mine about their experience at the airport in relation to the scanners that can detect Breast implants.
Just to add here my response was that id never once had anyone refer to my Breast implants or take me the side or to another room to discuss them.
I have been patted down before, many times (I must just look dodgy lol) but never in the frontal chest area.
For those who use do travel, from Manchester this person is asking about but other airports would be helpful too. If you could detail any experiences if at all you've had about your implants, or just your general experience. If you could share it on behalf of this person I'd appreciate it.
Thanks girls. Xx

Re: Airport body scanner question.
Im not sure I understand what your asking? As in are you smuggling anything other than saline in there?! I've flown 3 times since having mine done (Vegas, Portugal, Canada), all from London airports, but have never been asked to go through the scanner.
Has your friend had this happen? I would think the technology in the scanners could tell between an implant and something else.

Re: Airport body scanner question.
Just remembered, my friend works security at Heathrow, so I've asked her what procedure is!

Re: Airport body scanner question.
OK, to quote my friend: "No they don't [detect breast implants]. It uses millirays and they only penetrate the first layer of clothing. They are only used to see if people have anything strapped to their body"
This is Heathrow specific, but I would imagine there was a UK contract and they are all the same. So there you go, nothing to worry about!

Re: Airport body scanner question.
Was scanned at airport when going to Portugal earlier in year, scanner scans you then on a monitor there's a basic body shape & areas of interest come up with like dots on it , dots on my scan were metal in my clothing. Body image on screen is just a basic body shape ,no great detail to it ,could be anyone's body male or female. X

Re: Airport body scanner question.
Thank you all so much for the responses.
There's no smuggling involved lol.
This person just so happens to be male, so I'm sure you can understand why they might have this fear. But your responses I'm sure will put any fears they may have had to bed.
You're amazing ladies - thank you. Xx

Ah, that makes total sense. I guess its a bit more fear of judgement if you're male. But no, cant 'see' them, just a grey ghostly outline, no matter how many times the internet tells you otherwise!

Re: Airport body scanner question.
Husband works at gatwick airport for the police. The scanner may pick up but not solidly, and IF they did see any breast implants they're by no means allowed to question or comment or even say anything to you.
After all in this day and age blimey they'd be seeing a hell of a lot of breast implants In Women anyhow.
Adding to the scanne rating in a diffrent dimension my mum had her tubes tied (well clipped actaully with metal clips) around 19 yrs ago now , and when she had an MRI or X-ray can't remember which one, the clips have actually moved from her tubes up under her armpits! And that occasionally set the metal detector off at airport! X
