Boobs are shrinking!!
Merry Christmas to all you lovely ladies on here! Hope you had a good one! Anyway my boobs are finally starting to soften nicely at 9 and half weeks post op but are also shrinking too!! So much for drop and fluff!! My 32E bras are still fitting at the moment but a couple of 32Fs that I was fitted for at 6 weeks are now quite empty at the top and side!! I am losing upper pole fullness but not gaining any extra lower pole yet! I must have still had some swelling when I was measured. Anyway really just looking for advice on what to expect as they settle. As I have hp implants can I expect to gain more projection and lower pole fullness as they continue to soften as I am really quite disappointed that they are shrinking! When would you ladies recommend to get re-measured? I was thinking at 3 months then at 6 months xxx

Re: Boobs are shrinking!!
Merry Christmas to you and yours too Greybear
Your booobs aren't shrinking babe. This is something we read time after time when boobs start the process of dropping.
You will have gotten used to by now the full upper pole you first have after surgery. As implants start to drop into the picket this upper pole does get lost and MANY women panic at this time thinking exactly as you have now, that their boobs are shrinking.
As your boils start their journey into the pocket the upper pole gets lost and your lower pole WILL start to fill out. You may not even notice it because of the shape you had to your upper pole expecting the same sort of shape of the lower pole when your books just wouldn't look natural if this were to happen and MANY women still do have some swelling of the Breast as the implants start to settle which affects how they look and this can continue for a long time, as long as the 3 to 6 months as you said yourself.
When your boobs start dropping they DO start to project more forward and when you get the all clear from your surgeon you can go and get fitted for your first bra. In all of my time here I think there 2 or 3 women in 5 years who haven't been very pleasantly surprised when they had their first fitting and fit into a bra a lot bigger than they'd imagined.
For the majority who get fitted around the 6 week marker though they find their boobs just don't sit right in bras and they're not properly filling out the lower pole...so, although surgeons give the all clear, that's not to say your boobs do.
To help boobs when you have your first bras many women find a Balconette bra helps best because bobs are still sat a little high even if they feel they've lost their upper pole. They may also find it hurts after a short while wearing wires. This too is due to the fact that boobs may well not be shaped in the lower pole to fit comfortably in the wires and this can take time, not only to be able to wear bras full time, which could take just wearing a bra for as little as an hour a day and building the time up wearing one over months as your boobs continue healing, dropping and fluffing. We do advise for your first fitting just buying the essentials for this very reason because as your boobs change they MANY women find they go up in cup sizes. As many as three cup sizes we've had here!
Just like surgeons tailor a Breast Augmentation to fit a women anatomy, it's the same for a fitting. It has to be tailored to your body and as we all heal at different rates, to get the correct fit it can one woman here as little as two weeks and another as much as 6 months, but by six months most women will well be on their way to having the result they are to expect from their surgery.
Speaking only for myself, after my first surgery, it was 6 weeks when I was able to have my first fitting. I'd had. Very quick recovery and healed super quick. By day 3 I was up and out driving and able to do whatever I wanted within the guidelines of course of my surgeon. By 6 weeks my boobs slotted into bras like a glove and I was able to wear them full time from the get go. I jumped 2 cup size through my healing stage.
For my second surgery due to a rupture I had to have more invasive surgery and it was 3 months when I was advised when I could wear wires, but my boobs had other ideas and this just wasn't meant to be. It was a further 3 months of time building before I was able to wear bras full time. I never once increased in cup size throughout and had a much harder and longer healing process. I couldn't get out of bed for two weeks!
Subsequent surgeries were much the same...
So there really is no definitive answers we could give you but to listen to your body and don't have any expectations but to take your recovery a day at a time, don't compare, just focus on yourself and when you get the all clear, go for your fitting and just take things from there. Because not only does this surgery differ from woman to woman but also from surgery to surgery of the same woman!
It can be hard to understand when you feel a little deflated as boobs drop, but trust me, they are NOT getting smaller. When I told you of the two or three that didn't fluff after their first fitting, these women still had a cup size that exceeded their expections. We have yet to have any women who's breasts are smaller. Xx

Re: Boobs are shrinking!!
Hi Cookie. Thanks for the lovely detailed reply and I know everything you are saying is making sense. I was cleared to wear wired bras at 6 weeks and did measure a 32e/f but still find that underwires even now don't sit firmly against me. Balconettes are so uncomfortable atm as my cleavage is maybe still too firm?? I think the comfiest underwires are the plunge type but even they can be uncomfortable after a days wear. I tend to wear soft bras most of the time at the moment as they are the most comfortable and wear a 30f in those as they are more comfortable and supportive for me. I feel that my boobs look quite flat from the side at the moment even though my upper pole is almost gone and maybe the next step is the filling out of the lower pole? I really don't want to lose any more volume and would be quite happy to gain a little more as at 5ft10 and size 12 these implants are being eaten up my height/frame size!! I had no option to go any bigger as I had such tight skin and slim back and no breast tissue so I just went for the maximum at 390cc! I'm sorry to moan as I should be really pleased with my boobs and I am really, I just have a major case of boob greed right nowand am really hoping for some fluffing at some time!! xxx

Re: Boobs are shrinking!!
You're not moaning at all hun :hugme:this is totally unknown territory for you and if you don't ask...you won't know, so please ask all you like here without fear of anyone thinking you're moaning - you're not at all.
Yes, the more the lower pole fills out the more that flatness will disappear.
You definitely will not lose more volume either so please don't worry about that greybear and please do bare in mind that you're still early days, what you're looking at right now isn't the final look you're going to have. You're breasts are still changing. You're not comfortable enough yet in bras to be able to get the best from them either but you will and when that happens and you are able to achieve the different looks from the different styled bras you'll be amazed how good they can look with you being able to play them down I. t-shirt bras for work if you like to being able to vamp them up with a wonderbra making them look HUGE if this is what you wanted. It's the softening that's going to help to achieve that though and this can take 6 months to a year or more, so you've still a way to go.
Its hard to imagine pre-op isn't it sweetheart just how long and much this roller coaster of a ride to Boobsville can take out of you and there really are very few who are prepared for it to continue beyond the surgeon giving their all clear. But it's all about the boobs and no matter what the surgeon says...they're always going to heal in 'their' own good time.
Patience really is the key, but for those of us here having done that and got the t-shirt we KNOW that's easier said than done and thats no matter how many times you go through this either.
So even if it's just for a little reassurance greybear - that's what we're here for :hugme:xx

Re: Boobs are shrinking!!
Hi ,
Cookies basically answered everything , I found when mine started to settle & looked a little smaller(they weren't just got used to size & changing shape etc) for a confidence boost I would occasionally try on a smaller cup size in bra, my boobs would be right up there, busting out all over the place! XXX

Re: Boobs are shrinking!!
LOL. We've mostoy all been there. I'd once convinced myself I was going to have one boob on my back because that's where it felt like it was heading!
Turned out it was all in my head and wasn't going to live a life looking like I'd paid for my very own hump back! Lol.
We're all here to support each other through the turmoil this surgery puts us through and at least we can all laugh together bout it, rather than worry lone.

Re: Boobs are shrinking!!
Cookies said it all, but just to add the physics - it's scientifically impossible to lose volume! You've had 390cc of volume added, there is still 390cc in there, it's just shifting around and changing position.
I didn't get on with balconettes either, and still don't really. I have a very close cleavage, and the gores don't tend to sit right. You'll find the right shape and fit for you.

Re: Boobs are shrinking!!
Shame charlii as I wanted to wear balconettes in the summer when I wear a vest top. I find that plunge bras come up too high at the side in strappy vest tops. Gonna get remeasured at six months just before summer so I can get some new bras for summer clothes

Re: Boobs are shrinking!!
It could well be that as they continue to change, you'll fit better in them. It could be that I've just not found the right one!
Re measuring at 6 months is a good idea anyways, buy that point I needed a different size myself. 'they' say you should get fitted at least once a year as your boobs will change with age and hormones too.
