Anyone started out as 36aa??
I know that post op size depends on individual anatomy, but just wondered what 36aa'ers ended up with and what size/type implant they had.
Sorry for posting a q as I know there's a stats sticky, but there are lots there and just wanted to hear from other 36aa people :)
Thanks!

Re: Anyone started out as 36aa??
I was wearing 36A pre op, but it was entirely the wrong size. I was actually 32A/AA, had 340 XHP round, now 32DD/E.
Have you had yourself fitted pre op? Or measured at home? I was speaking to one of the other girls here and she was pleasantly surprised to find she was already a C, not the AA she thought, as she was in the wrong band. Take a tape measure around where your band sits and don't add 4/5" like stores will. That's your true band. So for example I measure 31", wear 32. It'll help plan for post op too.

Hi charlii, just wondered what is the proper way to measure yourself then? I went to m and s ( I know, but we have nowhere else) to try and get a sports bra as 1 of my post op bras is really uncomfortable. I measure a 27/28 and she said that made me a 32. Ive never got it. Is there a link you know to a proper fitting instruction o the net?? Would be really grateful x

Re: Anyone started out as 36aa??
I've used lots of the bra size calculaots online, and they all come back as 36. I don't really doubt that though as 32 and 34s are so tight around the band. I've never been measured in a shop though as I'd be mortified taking my top off in front of a woman measuring boobs all day haha! I literally just have 2 nipples stuck on...there's not really anything else to measure....for now anyway :)
It does confuse me though how people seem to drop band sizes post op? Is that more to due with not being measured beforehand? I can't understand how the band size can get smaller otherwise?

OK, just measured at home, and tape measure was quite snug but smallest I could comfortably get it was 32". I can't get a 32 bra done up though...confused? :? x

Re: Anyone started out as 36aa??
I actually put a post up a while ago because we had a lot of upset girls using online calculators. Have a look here [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The best home measuring method we've found is here [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] site is actually run by one of our old mods)
A lot of girls seem to drop a size because they're not properly fitted beforehand, just like me. I used the regular method of the +4/5, which had me in the 36, but knowing what I know now, it was way to big, riding up all the time. It is going to feel mega tight at first, because you're not used to it, but post op, you'll come to thank it. It will be so much more comfortable. Plus remember - all the support comes from the band, so that's where it has to fit.
A new bra should always fit on the loosest setting. This is so that with wash and wear, you can do it up tighter as the fabric gives. Then when you're on the tightest, time to look for a new one. There's always going to be exceptions, I sometimes wear a 34 if the band has a less forgiving/stretchy material. Its all about the fit, not the measurement.
Also, you don't have to get your boobs out at a fitting if you don't want to. A lot of girls think that, but its completely unnecessary. More often than not, they'll do it by eye, ask what size you're currently wearing, assess the fit on that, and take it from there. M&S are notoriously bad at fitting. Best places are Bravissimo (D+ though, so post op), Boux Avenue, John Lewis and dept stores are OK, or independent lingerie companies.

Re: Anyone started out as 36aa??
Another thing to remember is pre op we've never had to wear a bra that provides support (my bra was strap on boobs not a supportive bra!). But post op you realise that the band is actually supposed to be quite snug! Having said that, I think different companies size differently to each other, similar to clothes. A good fitter will teach you how to recognise a good fit for yourself!

Re: Anyone started out as 36aa??
Haha @strap on bra...I totally agree! n Much of the time I am wearing 2 bras at the same time!
I'm thinking now that perhaps my band is smaller, and that I opted for a 36 as the cups are wider thus giving the illusion on the outside of bigger boobs! I've never had a bra with cups that actually fit, except when I was breastfeeding!
I'm SO looking forward to my first ever bra fitting session...possibly more so than the surgery itself! :)

You're so right Mammamia, I never paid attention to support from bras but now I am. The 32 was snug for me but the woman at bravissimo said it was perfect.

Re: Anyone started out as 36aa??
You have to use the system that a bra manufacturer uses though. I'm 28FF in Bravissimo but 32E everywhere else I tried.
There's not much point in asking for a 28 if the band is four inches too short!

Re: Anyone started out as 36aa??
That's not necessarily true. M&S will still add on those extra inches, but the smaller band will be a better fit, even for their own bras. The reason behind it is so they can stock a smaller range of sizes, thus lowering their overheads. Its why you'll find instore they'll only have 32-38B-DD, but online there'll be a much larger size range available.
This is why its absolutely imperative that you get fitted every time, and learn for yourself how a properly fitted bra should sit and feel. That way you can always start with a guide size, and work around it until you find the right one that fits you, even if you are somewhere that doesn't offer a service, or buying online and trying at home.

Hi..... I think you will be an E at least .....with that implant. Not long to go now!
I wore the wrong band pre op and I WISH I HAD GOT MEASURED PROPERLY pre op.
But never had mainly through embarrassment...lol. I also never knew the correct way a bra should fit.....
