When did you start wearing wires?
hey girls! Just wondering when everyone started wearing wires? I was 6 weeks PO on friday and am a bit confused.
The cosmetic nurse at Spire said I could wear non-wired bras from 6 weeks PO, and wires for up to an hour 'for special occasions' (errr....)
I emailed my surgeon's PA to check when I could start wearing wires full time, and she said 'As long as the wired bra is comfortable and doesn't dig into your breast at any point you can wear them full time.' This sounds quite early to me though? I wore wires for an hour this morning and they were okay, although the wires aren't sitting particularly well, probably because I'm so early post-op.
I don't want to damage them!

Re: When did you start wearing wires?
Lots of ladies get the all clear to wear wires at 6 weeks Ella.
But.... Just because you get the all clear if you're not yet comfortable it doesn't mean you have to.
I was 12 weeks before I got the all clear and even then, my boobs just weren't ready. So I would build up my time that I could wear wires. I'd try an hour a day until that felt comfortable, that went up to 2 hours, till again i felt comfortable and so on.....
For many it's not as simple as just popping the wires on and them feeling great, although some lucky ladies do get to have that, for some it takes a while and that's OK Ella. So listen to your body, take that lead and go with what you're comfortable in. Xx

Re: When did you start wearing wires?
I will soon be 2 years post op ( where does the time go!). I was given the all clear at 8 weeks to wear wires but as others have said it does take time to get used to them, even now I only wear wires when I am going out and getting dressed up, for work I still wear a sports bra as I find them comfier. You will probably need to experiment a bit too with the different styles of bras to find ones that are comfy and show your new additions at their best.
It is exciting though Ella when you go shopping & have fab new boobs to fill all the gorgeous bra's that are out there! XXX

Re: When did you start wearing wires?
I had my one month check on sat where my PS said I could happily wear wires from now. I'm waiting anyway until mid sept as wanted to get measured properly so off to bravissimo in London for a shopping trip. Am happily hanging out in my sports bra xx

Re: When did you start wearing wires?
I started wearing wires as soon as my surgeon said I could at six weeks po. As long as your surgeon is happy for you to wear them and it feels comfortable it should be ok xx

Re: When did you start wearing wires?
Thanks everyone! Going to try wearing wires for a little bit each day I think and see how I get on - if they're uncomfortable I'll go back to my sports bras full time I thought most girls got told 12 weeks, but reassured to see other people being told they can wear wires around the 6-8 week mark!

Re: When did you start wearing wires?
I actually had a disagreement with my clinic nurse over this! She was adamant that I had to wait until 12wks, as is standard THG instructions, but I was like no, my surgeon said I could at 8wks, and I think I'm going to listen to him on this! Granted I didn't dive back in to them, but listen to your surgeon, not the nurse.
Like everyone else said, its all about the comfort, and it may be that your boobs disagree with them until they hit a certain level of softness before you can squeeze them into an unnatural shape. Listen to you body, and keep a sports bra in your handbag!!
WOOWOO, any mega push up bra is going to be wired. It has to be in order to push them up into that unnatural shape. There's no getting away from them I'm afraid! But, in saying that, after you've had them done and you've been measured properly, you'll find wearing them soo much more comfortable. I was in the wrong size pre op, and it was always riding up and giving me such bad breast ache, but now I'm in the right size, they're fine for a day. Still like to get out of them in the evenings though!
