So my op isn't for a while but so I'm prepared what do I need? A v shape pillow? And would you buy your sport/post op bras before or wait till give surgeon tells you what you need?
I've got some front fastening blouses for work, will be 10 days post op when I go back so hoping I'll be ok in that regard anyway. I'm having an overnight stay in hospital.

I stayed 2 nights in hosp and hardly needed anything! Toothbrush and nightie was about all I got out of my case and I wore the same clothes to hospital that I wore home (boyfriend style shirt, shorts and flip flops!). I took a dressing gown but never used it (it was warm) but might be good to take one! I took a book but never read it as didn't feel like it and either slept or watched tv. Afterwards just make sure you have lots of pillows and move things you need within easy reach. My surgeon told me to get a bra before and told me the size so you might want to ask. I wore his bindings until time to go home and then they wanted me to wear the sports bra home. Exciting times!

I might get pjs with button front? Going to put some films/books on my iPad.
I'm not sure I will see my surgeon again before the surgery itself but my bf has two days off after my op so was thinking we could nip to the shops for another bra then? Where are the best places? I've Eden M&S do front fastening wireless bras?
I made him watch a recovery video I found on you tube last night (I say made, he doesnt take much persuading to sit and look at boobs with me haha) I am worried he will see these big hard boobs and wonder what I've done. I want him to realise they will change a lot.

I defo needed my dressing gown for when i walked to theatre, that or have my **naughty word** hanging out the back! Slippers, front buttoning night wear, electric toothbrush and throat sweets were a god send! Ive had lots of op's but my throat was like sand paper after my ba.
Oooo and snacks for after ( i got peckish in the night ) and magazines and ipad incase you have a long wait.
Your surgeon should tell you what bra and what size to take. I got told to take a high impact in a DD plus i took a macom. I woke up in my binder which was provided by the hospital.

I've been told they provide you with one bra and I will need to buy another - girl said cheap one will do, but I don't know why she emphasised the expense when I'm spending 4.5k on them!

Marks and sparks do a wicked high impact pack of 2 for £25. I find them more comfortable than my macom

Thanks Sharon, we have an M&S locally, so thought it would be handy if they did something suitable as can pop in after my op.
I was thinking I'd want at least a black and a white one if I'm going to be wearing them for six weeks and I expect I will wear them lounging around and maybe for comfort at work beyond that.
I'm a bit worried about where to get measured as always though M&S were top until I came on here. I'm in Leicester and we don't have a bravissimo, will your surgeon measure you post op?
I'm worrying about sizing too, I'm a 34B, my surgeon told me a small B, and having 300cc I'd be disappointed with a C cup, I know we should go on looks but if I go through all of this and hear I'm a C I will be upset!
I'm dreaming about boob jobs already lol! Getting very anxious, I'm ok through the week then when the weekend comes and I have 5 mins to think I wind myself up - thank god for this forum.
I run every morning with the dogs, I plan to just walk with my bf (he will be holding dogs) when I go back to work, until I can hold them myself again. Am getting worried about weight gain as am very active and 4-6weeks walking and no running is unheard of for me....
And breathe haha

Hahaha calm down!! Your surgeon should tell you what impact bra you need to get and defo book another appointment to discuss size. Noway do you want to be spending that sort of money to have an outcome your not happy with.

Even if you do put on a bit of weight after your op dont stress about it (i carried an extra half a stone but think it was also fluid) ... Once ur fighting fit again it'll soon drop off! Just see it all as part of your recovery. Use the time to fully recover, have a little rest, then your soon be back to normal but with bigger boobs! RESULT!!! lol x

Yes don't worry about weight....you can either rest for 6-8 weeks and reduce your chances of complications and a re-op, or put on a bit of weight but have amazing boobs! I'm nearly 9 weeks post op and carrying about 4 lbs more than usual but I've barely done any exercise for 9 weeks and I'm confident I'll go back to normal when life is back normal! Just see it as a temporary thing and some people don't put on at all (but I LOVE food!!). I think post op you'll worry about other things, not your weight!!

I hardly needed/used anything in the end although was well prepared!

Def lots of water, Vaseline and anything to stop you getting bored!

I went back to work at 10 days post op and by then was able to put in my work tshirts fine.

I am definitely carrying more weight which is killing me and the not training part is hard but I am so happy with the result and that they have made me feel so confident with less body hang up issues that it has been worth it. Although looking forward to getting back to my old ways as my PS has agreed a return to normality!

Thanks Franbo good to hear about your work tops :) I'm gunna get some chunky jumPers i think - hide the sports bra.

Try not to worry about weight gain, as others have said it's only temporary & the run up to Christmas you don't want to be denying yourself some of those goodies. As to the sports bras you will be surprised at how much clothing you can wear and them not be noticeable.I at almost 2 years post op still wear sports bras for work ( only because I feel more comfortable) my uniform isn't high up around the neck either. x

I bought my sports bras from Tesco Florence & Fred range at £6 each. I also bought the twin pack from m&s. A week before, I impulsively bought some bra back extenders from eBay for around £2 & they're the best £2 spent. I'm a 34A & bought 34DD/E sports bras. They're all far too tight post surgery, so I just stick an extender on. I'm only wearing the £6 bra's at the moment. I took them all to hospital & post surgery I woke up in the Tesco one. My surgeon at Spire, put me in my bra whilst I was in surgery & said they were the best fit for me. Definitely recommend the back extenders though!ine was a pack of 3 in black, white & nude! Xx

I overpacked, you need way less than you think. Lozenges, not just for the dry throat post op, but coughing is going to hurt, so if you get a fit, they are a godsend. Electric toothbrush if you have one too...the jiggling was sore with a manual!

As for bra's, they should have recommended a size. There's always the Macom to get around this. But the M&S high impact seems to get top ratings at the moment, plus with a back extender you wont need to buy loads to accommodate the swelling for the first few weeks. But don't go to M&S for your first official fitting, they still add the 4/5 and are pretty pony. John Lewis gets good marks from the girls, plus if there's a boux avenue near you, they were great for me.

Post by Littlemissdd 26th August 2014, 5:03 pm

So.. Today I find my new boobs are killing me. I took my bra off to wash it. I put on a low impact sports bra I bought for £5 in a sale. Finally I could breathe & relax again. I rang a friend, who rang a friend (breast surgeon) & they said my bra's must be too tight & would be pushing me up, not down. So I've just been to m&s, been checked & bought the high impact bra in a 36D. I'm measuring 34DD but in this bra the 36D was a good fit. My advice therefore is a few cheap bra's to go home in, with bra extenders if they're tight. Then after a few days.. splurge on something that fits perfectly & will get you through the Sports Bra stage! P.S mine look better by the day!! Xx

Please bear in mind though that you must stick to what your surgeon has told you. If they've requested high impact bra's, and you go and put a cheapie supermarket one on, they can retract your aftercare as you didn't take their advice. The cheap ones are cheap for a reason. Now, this may be fine for Littlemissdd, but each post op instruction is tailored to you and your boobs alone, so what is fine for one girl may not be for the next. Always check with your surgeon and stick to their instructions.

The most useful things by far that I bought were spray deo (couldn't lift my arms enough for roll on), wet wipes and *ahem* 'lady' wipes, because you might not feel up to a beth for a day or two, and it saves you feeling totally minging! x

Thanks everyone :) I think I will buy one a day or so after surgery when I know what size I need. Or i might ask when I have my bloody tests.
Thank you for the tips re lady wipes lol! I am totally OCD when it comes to cleaniness! Not showering for more than a day will be awful for me!
I might book in to get my hair washed locally the Saturday before I go to work on the Monday just so it's been done properly.

Good plan hun! I had my surgery on a friday morning, and had my hair washed at the hairdressers on the Tuesday lunchtime, it was SO nice to have clean hair again! My mum washed it for me a few days after that and it was a lot more uncomfortable, so would definitely recommend the hairdresser to do it if you're up to it. Just a warning though - I was so knackered by the trip there and back I spent the rest of the day sleeping!! So do bear in mind you might need to leave it a few days before going, and allow yourself plenty of rest time after :-) My dad thought it was hilarious that I was so knackered after having my hair done!!

The girls have covered what you need to take :) day 3/4 is usually the worst so maybe leave a hair wash until day 6/7. You'll be able to gently wash your own hair at around week 2 x

Have you checked with your surgeon that you won't be able to shower? Some people can, depending on the method used to stitch you up!
