Is it usual to only see surgeon once?
I've just booked a second follow up appt with Mrs Kat - well actually with her clinical nurse as they said while I can do a follow up appt with Mrs Kat usually its the CN that does them. Now most of my questions are about sizing but I have a few others, again that I am sure a nurse can answer, and while I assume I'd see her again before I actually go in for surgery I was just wondering is it normal that you'd only see the surgeon once before making such a big decision? I guess there isn't much else that she could tell me but I suppose I thought I'd see her more so she'd get to know my body and what she is doing. But then on the other hand I guess its a fairly standard procedure so aside from sizing and placement there isnt much else for her to know before hand!
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Is it usual to only see surgeon once?
Hey,
I think every place is different, I went thorough a private hospital chain (BMi) and private surgeon so saw him three times but was offered any opportunity to see him I wanted. For sizing consultations and discussions I saw the specialist nurse as I saw her about three times just to shove things in my bra. To be fair she was brilliant and was able to answer lots if random questions I had in a 'normal' way as some surgeons can be quite surgeony!
Can you not ask to see her again and see what they say if you wish to?

From some of the posts I've read on forums, it isn't that unusual to book a BA and pay a deposit before even seeing a surgeon once.

To be fair they have offered me an appointment with her but she's away for 2 weeks at the end of August and I didnt really want to wait as am hoping to book it for October. Maybe I will reschedule and try and get in with her as I think I would feel more comfortable and I can really quiz her about the PURE implants as I am a little confused about them.

I think if you would feel more comfortable seeing her then you should, otherwise you may have doubts that you can't shake. A few weeks to make sure that you get the answers you want and to feel happy and ready is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

I know everywhere is different but I only ever saw my surgeon - three times. I was happy to see him directly as he was the one who was going to do the job and the cutting lol But, I think a lot of clinics use the nurses etc I would do whatever you feel comfortable with, it's not much to ask to her again as it is a big decision. I only ever saw my surgeon, and if I'd had further questions or sizing issues, I'd have gone back to him for advice, then played dress up with the pcc. But if you want to see the surgeon, don't be fobbed off. It's not the nurse cutting you open. And it's not a standard procedure, each op is unique because each girl is unique.

It's normal to only see a surgeon once before you have your op, but you should be able to see him/her again before your op if you feel you need to. I only saw mine once, went through everything and I knew he was the one. Any questions I had between then and my op, the clinic nurse could answer and I had a chat with my surgeon on surgery day then x

I saw him twice for the first time, if that makes sense. Once on an initial consult when I was just digging around, and then back to him when I decided to go through with it over a year later. I was happy with my sizing at the consultation. But had I asked to go back, I could have.

Probably depends on the questions you want to ask? You're paying a lot of money for the op though, so if you want to see her rather than a nurse, I'd push for it. Also depends where you're seeing her - I saw her at spire parkway in May and the cosmetic nurse was really lovely, but also quite new, and struggled a bit to answer some of my more detailed questions. If I'd gone for a second visit, I would have insisted on seeing Mrs Kat x
