Clothing post op specifically work
Ok, so I am getting the gist of what I should be wearing post op - see people talking about vest tops you can step into and zip up style tops but need to think about what I'm going to wear when I go back to work. My op is in the Thursday (17) and I am back to work the following Monday (28th).
I currently wear wick away style tshirts with a zip up collar. Again from things I have read it seems I will be unlikely to pull on a top like this for a while. Ignoring the fact I am going to need a new size anyway as the one I wear at the moment is pretty tight!
So my questions is, how long will I not be able to get my hands up over my head and pull a top like this on (I know people recover in different ways) but it'll give me a head start in thinking about work options, perhaps a bit of leeway whilst in the office but if I need to see people I could stick on a formal button up shirt.
Thank you in advance xx

What is it you do? By wk2, most girls are getting some movement back to reach up and over the head, so you should be fine with looser tees. I just wore my old jumpers to work as I always do and got hubs to help me dress. A lot of girls worry about how to disguise their compression band if they get given one (no guarantee, just surgeons preference) but its not difficult, just looks like the top of a vest poking through.

I have Pm'd you Charlii.
So, I may be able to dress ok, but will have a contingency in place if I can't.
The top of the vest poking through should be ok as I usually wear a sports bra anyway. Will ask if I haves to wear a compression band but that hasn't been mentioned before.XX

It's not every girl, and I wasn't told about it pre op, just woke up in it and was all oh, ok. They might not decide until post.

I went shopping for some new work blouses and got a couple of front buttoned ones :) just in case I'm struggling, yes I know I have three months to go :P
I read in the good boob bible that you should be tying to reach your arms up from day one 1-3x before you go to sleep? Was anyone else told this?

No, I really don't think you should be pushing yourself to do anything immediately post op, its when you're most likely to do yourself a mischief or pull a stitch. Some women are able to have full movement a couple days post op. Unders normally takes longer, but that's for good reason. During wk two I slowly got back into reaching to wash and do my hair, but I wouldn't have attempted any sooner for fear of pulling something and invalidating my aftercare.

I had read on websites that some ladies are told to raise arms post op. My surgeon specially said no raising my arms above my head so like many things seems like they all have their own ideas on what's best!

I guess your surgeon knows what you've had done and what you need, which is why Google can be so dangerous!!

Ah Doctor Google!
I'll speak to my surgeon specifically around that then too.
Got a presentation though on my first day back, funny to think what people will think, it will be friggin obvious!
