do nhs fund scans to get for ruptures?
I have been researching what this lump in my breast could be, I have a dip and then a lump in the implant n I wonder if it could possibly be a rupture? Would u recommend seeing the gp or book a private scan?

Hi,
I'm not sure if the scan would be available on the NHS, you can see your G.P and then if not go private, your G.P should then be able to advise on where to go in your area.
Good Luck & let us know how you get on. XXX

You won't get a scan through the NHS for anything to do with your implants Loui. Unless of course you had your surgery through the NHS.
If you had the surgery privately, then any investigations related to that surgery should also be funded privately.
However..... Its a little sneaky but it does work: if you were to approach your GP and explain you have 'unexplained' pain in your breast (do-not mention your implants and if asked, say you don't think this is the cause) then your GP has a duty of care to refer you on for further investigation.
The cost of a private ultrasound though is only about £150, so not a lot of money to pay for peace of mind really is it if you're overly concerned.

Hi thanks I found a squishy lump so my gp has referred me to the breast clinic at my hospital, not sure what scans they will do? Meanwhile I'm also due to have av second opinion from Mr lahoud regarding the asymmetry that you can see in my avatar. My one is firm n lumpy my other one is soft but my best tissue hangs off the implant like waterfall. Looking into whether they will swap them for anatomicals if I pay for the price of the implants x

An ultrasound will give your GP an indication of what the lump may be and whether it requires further investigation.
If you're concerned about a rupture...well, they're not bad for detecting ruptures but they're not great and have been known many times to miss one.
The best way to detect ruptures is through an MRI.
If your surgeon is agreeable to revision then as long as you're happy to pay for the new implants there really shouldn't be a problem getting them IF your surgeon is happy using them.
Some surgeons don't have the training to use anatomicals and therefore aren't confident placing them. Xx

You can get a private MRI scan done for around £250
My surgeon suggested that it I would be better off doing this rather than relying on NHS screening, particularly as he had recommended overs.
