Re: The day of surgery
Are you driving to the hospital? I found this helped a lot as I had to focus on driving instead of surgery especially as it was a 3 hour drive! Then hubby took the car after and went to his sisters until I needed to be picked up. When you are there you are kept busy with them popping in try not to worry you may be surprisingly calm on the day as it all feels a bit surreal xx

Re: The day of surgery
I was at work until literally 2 hours before admission. Keep really busy and you'll be fine. I'm a really bad worrier and suffer anxiety attacks and when I got there I was absolutely fine. It was the first time of actually been excited about BA. When I was waiting for the anaesthetic I was shaking with fear but I knew I had come too far and not to back out. He gnaw me something to relax me and the next thing I knew I was in recovery :) x

Thanks girls , it's just such an unknown...it's so weird that I wasn't scared at all of labour and that's surely got to b a more intense and painful experience. I don't understand my immense fear tbh but I'm doing all I can towel sure I'm prepared. Just nice to hear I'm not alone x

I was a nervous wreck when I got to the hospital. I arrived at 8am and I didn't go down to theatre til 1.30pm. I was literally shaking with nerves. The nurses were amazing though and helped calm me down. Just let them know when you get there. You will be fine hun xx

Re: The day of surgery
Hi D, I kept thinking when will the nerves kick in but they never did! I was fine no nerves at all. I was lucky tho I got to hospital to find surgeon waiting outside my room, he drew on me there and then, the anaesthetic man came then the nurse got me in my gown and then I was taken so no time for nerves ha. Not long now :) x

Re: The day of surgery
I felt nothing myself. Not empty nothing, but no nerves, no excitement...almost relief that 10yrs on it was finally happening. admission at 7am, then I think I was in surgery by 10, so no chance for nerves. Got giggly when walking to theatre which is my normal reaction, but that's all
Everyone's gonna feel different and cope with it differently. I wouldn't worry too much.

Re: The day of surgery
Perhaps you will be fine on the day. I was waiting for my 'major breakdown' and it never happened. In fact I was really calm as I've told you before. Perhaps as you feel confident and happy with your decision it will put your mind at ease a bit.
Just try and keep busy before you go and hopefully that will take your mind off it. I'm a bit strange as I don't like to cause a fuss, I really think that kept my nerves in check.
In terms of pain it is way down my list it was more a discomfort. I know it is different for you as you are having the up lift as well. Nothing, and that includes child birth, will beat the pain and agony I felt of having my wisdom tooth taken out lol
You will be fine and it'll all be worth it in the end. Mr H will sort you out don't worry and we are all here to support you xx

Doughty,if you makes you feel any better I'm absolutely bricking it now! It's starting to feel real and I'm scared to death! I'm driving up to Manchester on the morning of the op, it's a 3 hour drive and I have to be there by 8am but it's my way of making sure I take my mind of it. I'm also more scared than I ever was about having my kids, x

Also, I'm not sure how true it is but I was told that the uplift/implant patients go first as it's a more complicated surgery so we may not be waiting long. I'm taking my iPad to watch the last couple of episodes of Breaking Bad, x

Re: The day of surgery
Hey,
I was quite calm before my admission time(12.30pm)but as I got to my room for the day and my friend ( who had taken me) left at about 1pm I was on my own and did wonder what the hell I was doing but then it was like a whirlwind -first of all a nurse came and took obs ( blood pressure/pulse / any allergies etc.) Then few mins later the anaesthetist came and asked me questions, finally my surgeon drew on me ( about seven-eight dots). The next thing I knew I was being wheeled down to theatre ( first on the list due to latex allergy).
I think it was about 4.30pm when I got back to my room but couldn't go the loo or have food until my surgeon had been round (about 5.30pm) was sooo hungry, I drank two big water jugs and was still thristy
