Post by loui1981 12th February 2014, 7:52 am

I'm not having a good time of it at the moment. I was given the all clear to exercise last week and am 7 week's post ba. I thought it was my period but I'm getting sharp pains in my breasts like shooting pains.  It's on both not all the time but when I bent over I just got it in the cleavage where the edge of my implant is.  Also get it under and above.  do others get this?

there, there just sending you a wee cyber hug Lou, in a way it's good that you're so tuned in to your body and you're really listening to what it's telling you, I think this may be just a wee reminder to take your time and break yourself in very gently keeping those pups well supported when you exercise.x

Shooting pains are the nerves knitting back together. Theyre starting to send those electrical signals, and if you think about it like theyre just running into a wall at the moment, bam, that's the pain. It can really take you by surprise if you're not expecting it.

It also sounds like your body is yelling slow down. Like I said before, just because you're PS says you can exercise, doesn't mean your body is ready for that stress. Get back in your sports bra for a week, take it easy and listen to your body.

I agree, sounds like shooting pains, which can unfortunately last for a year or more, however they tend to ease as time goes on and not be so shocking. It is a very good sign that you are healing internally.

I'd say this is very normal as you are still very early on in your recovery and it will just be the reconnecting of your nerves and muscles. Just to be on the safe side, though, cut back on your exercise and try not to focus on upper body exercises for another few weeks. I'm nearly 7 weeks post-op and my surgeon gave me the all clear to return to the gym, lift weights and run etc.. But I know for a fact that I'm not ready to start running or lift weights! Just do everything very gradually babe and then you won't start worrying yourself that these shooting pains are due to excessive exercise :)
I hope your pains go away and if not then call your clinic nurse or surgeon!!

Take care, honey!!xxxxx

hi hun,

like the others have said, shooting pains means nerve endings healing, it's a good thing really! (i know it's not easy to see it that way lol)

also at 7 weeks post op you are still quite early in your recovery. remember that internal healing can go on for up to a year post op!
i remember that i definitely wouldn't have felt comfortable exercising again at 7 weeks..

basically what the other girls have said is good advice, just give it another bit of time, stabilise your boobs in a good sports bra, and then start slowly... x
