Slightly worried about my weight :/ Empty Slightly worried about my weight :/

Post by kati1236 9th February 2014, 12:06 am

Ok so I'm not a health freak, nor do I weigh myself often. In fact the last time was a month or two ago when my mum bought some fancy new scales that did your fat content and water content and so on....

So she decided to weigh herself today and was excited at losing some weight :) (she has a lung condition and ended up on steroids that fattened her loads, but now she's on a low dose and happy to lose the weight back to normal again)
So I was yapping about it being my shot :P ......

I have actually lost about 4lbs since I last weighed myself..

When your at your pre-op, how much does your weight affect them doing surgery?

I've always been on the lower end of the scale... roughly 7stone-7 and a half..
Today I weighed in at 6stone 12lbs...
At the back of my mind I'm worried they might refuse to do my BA... I'm not unhealthy nor deit... in fact I had 2 dinners tonight.. one included a kebab :D
I always say the extra weight needed to make me in the 'normal' BMI would come from boobs if I had any... is there anyone else slender that was worried about this? Just some reassurance needed :D

thanks girls :) xx

Babe, I think as long as you're healthy, then you'll be fine. I wouldn't worry about it too much and to give you that little bit more of reassurance ring your surgeon on Monday and express your concerns with him - that way you'll definitely have your answer. Xx

Hi, babe! What is your BMI? And what is your height?
I think if you're already booked in then your surgeon will be happy to operate on you knowing what size you are now. I think if he had had any concerns about yout weight when measuring you then he would have raised them at your consultation! :)
If you aren't suffering from an eating disorder then I wouldn't be worried, babe! If you're regularly eating and your health is in good condition i.e you have energy and aren't suffering from any symptoms of anorexia then i don't think you need to be worried. Lots of girls are naturally skinny and don't put on weight no matter how much they eat haha! I used to suffer from an eating disorder so if i weighed 6stone 12lbs pre-op then i think this would be a problem. However, if you are just naturally skinny then you'll be fine babe! :) :)

Take care.. Sorry for babbling on haha! Xxxxx

Ah it's not blabbering :) I think I blabber a lot at the mo.
I've never been over 8 stone in my life. Not even when pregnant. I eat when I'm hungry. No eating disorder. I'm 5ft 1 and a half lol. So I'm classed as underweight but I defo don't look it :/ just look average really.
He said straight away I was slight which I am which is why he wouldn't go higher than 330s. Just hoping the nurse I see on wed for my pre op doesn't cause a fuss. Xx

Ahh well if you're 5'1 then it's not too bad! :) I was picturing you to be taller so I thought you may be very underweight for a taller height. That's great that you don't put on weight! :)
Trust me, the nurse won't make a fuss at all.. If your surgeon has said he'll operate, and your considered healthy and able to handle the op and the implants, then she can't say anything! Being underweight would only be a problem if you had an eating disorder or your blood pressure or heart rate were being affected by it.

They do ask your weight and work out your BMI.
It should be in the "healthy range" ideally lovely.

Work this out like this:

Best wishes , if you are worried call your PS/clinic for advice.

330 is BIG considering your weight and height, did you do the rice test or just go with what he said?

A BMI of under 18.5 I think it is , is considered medically "under weight".

Are you much less than your consultations? Maybe things at home that you mentioned the other day are taking their toll. I hope you're ok, like I said any worrying, ive PS a call.

On the day of my BA they worked out my BMI, they must do that for a reason, so I would definitely ask before if I were you (just incase hun)

Sorry you probably don't wanna hear that but as we say Honesty is best here. Good luck xx

Tigertonix I'm quite petite :P tiny.. I hate being so small :P
So yeah not quite as bad as if I was taller. I can't see it being too much of a problem if I'm always this size, and also I'm paying to have this done, and I'm sure surgeons have operated on skinner girls.... Just hoping for a nice nurse :P

krizz - That's what he recommended for me, I also tried the implants in a bra and also did the rice test... I have always been this size, even when I met my surgeon and he drew all over me. He didn't say anything. I really don't look underweight! I appreciate your honesty Krizz so thanks :D
Ah if I'm not classed as 'underweight' then it's all gooood :D
xx

thanks for working that out for me krizz :D xx

Just used the NHS BMI checker which counts in my female and age factor and it says I'm 18.1, you're right Sahara if I'm 7stone I'm classed as 'healthy'... I shall need to start eating icecream and butter till Wednesday lmao!
I doubt they would not do surgery based on the fact I'm .4 under the normal range! xx
thanks for helping girls

I never was able to gain weight and now I've gone to far and am bottom heavy

I've also discovered, where I was naturally thin I never had to exercise, that I'm lazy when it comes to exercise  Shocked

I'm bidding for a cross trainer at the moment x

I was joking sahara ^^ yes very yukky...
I'm happy with my weight and unless they specifically ask me to put on a bit, then I think i'll stick to what I'm doing, which is eat when i'm hungry and eat what I want :P
I also never specifically go out to exercise... just the usual running around after kids, having a dog and so on.. :) xx

Hi, babe! I think you'll definitely get a nice nurse and I really wouldn't be worried about your size! Your surgeon knows your statistics and obviously isn't concerned about your weight. There's celebrities out there that are underweight and they've still managed to have boobs jobs! Don't worry, honey! Just be excited and eat lots of your ice cream and butter haha ;) xxxxxx

Yeah I'm going to try not to worry too much about it. Never been private for anything dr related before so yeah I guess they should be super nice nurses :) xx

They will be lovely, babe, mine were exceedingly lovely and kind towards me!! They got me anything I wanted (like drinks, biscuits, painkillers, extra pillows etc..)
And as for the celebs.. well just look at Jordan. Back in the day she was probably less than a size 6 and she got massive whopper boobies! xxxxx

Hi,

I am 5ft and weigh 7 stone 3lb (ish) but can drop to 7stone at times. I am not skinny - just petite - which is how my surgeon described me in the letter to my doctor.  Sounds like you are a similar build to me!

You won't have a problem at your pre-op hunny. You are healthy and young so they won't see your weight as an issue.

Hi Seashell, thanks for that. Yeah I'm not skinny either.. well I don't think so, my mum would disagree :P
I have come to the conclusion that if they op on the likes of Victoria beckham and such then i'll be fine ^^ plus my surgeon saw me with my top off while doing his doodling so if he wasn't happy he should've said something then and there... rather than me paying in full :P
ahhh 2 days till my pre-op ass then it's going to whoosh to sat and i'll be in the hospital thinking of all you guys :D and being a brave girl :P xx
