It will pass, but it can take a while for them to feel part of you. It's a funny feeling isn't it when you get in the shower and think that they might drop off your chest!
The more often you try on different clothes, bras, bikinis etc (when you have the all clear from your surgeon), the more normal they will feel and more confident about them you will become. I got the all clear for wired bras etc at 6 weeks and soon started to feel human again. Some ladies have to wait a little longer, but your surgeon will tell you when.
Bit more patience and you will start to notice they just "become" part of you.

Its good to be a bit over protective early post op but not to the point of being scared! As long as your not doing anything too physical or against your surgeons advice there's nothing to be afraid off ,also any changes are subtle and happen over a period of time so there's no need to worry when taking your bra off that they are going to have dramatically changed from when you put it on.

Re: when will I stop being scared of my new boobs?!
Babe, you sound very much like me haha!
Whenever I take my bra off and have a shower I always feel like I'm damaging them and I don't dare bend down or stretch my arms etc..
I also don't dare sleep on my side and I'm nearly 5 weeks post-op too!
I'm so confident that as I progress further they will definitely feel more like a part of me. I'm not going to lie, my boobs don't look nice in normal bras yet. I tried my sister's bra on tonight (34DD) and I have no cleavage whatsoever. However, I know that I still have so many changes to go through still and I know I'm not seeing the final result yet.
You'll learn to love them babe!
I've heard the saying 'Hate them at 6 days, like them at 6 weeks and love them at 6 months!' I agree with this quote because I already know that my love for my boobs is growing every day and every week :)
Don't worry, babe, you'll love your new additions in a couple of weeks, I'm sure!
Take care, honey xxxxxx

Re: when will I stop being scared of my new boobs?!
Having a BA isn't just a change if body shape, its also a massive change to how you look at yourself and for the brain to actually take in and accept this new body.
Boobs will and do feel alien for a long time, but as they continue to heal and become a part of you they start feeling more and more like your own.
The timing for that varies from woman to woman because we're all different. For some women this could be as soon as 6 weeks, for other anything up to a year, but you will come to accept them.
When you get the all clear for wired bras, this as seashell suggested, it does help you feel 'feminine' again. Just getting out of the sportsbras that through recovery feel like granny bras and into beautiful lingerie does help you look at your boobs in a different light.
For other women this isn't enough and their mind needs more from you to accost them as your own... This is generally down to learning how to dress your new body and as simple as that sounds for some this easy.
The clothes and style that suited them pre-op may no longer post-op so they have to 're-invent' themselves for the want of a better word.
A shopping day just Togo trying on different styles of clothes generally makes all the difference.
For example, a V neck top suits a fuller bust far more than a high necked one. Anything ruffled or flowing over the boobs can make some ladies who are tiny look fat up top 'in their mind' so a fitted style is more suited.
There's lots of information online about tips to dress a fuller bust and its always worthwhile having a read before clothes shopping because it does help a lot!
I know of only one woman of the thousands who have come through this forum who never came to accept her boobs, but ALL the rest DID come to love their boobs and they no longer feel their old ones were ever there. The new ones are what they always should have had, now have and will have forever to come. Xx

Re: when will I stop being scared of my new boobs?!
It took me about 6 months to feel comfortable with mine and truly enjoy them.
Re: when will I stop being scared of my new boobs?!
As with the whole journey it's gonna take some patience. They're still healing and dropping, and it's good that you're 'scared' of them, as it means you'll protect them. I'd say for me it was around 6m when they were soft and squishy and I caught hubby playing with them without noticing (as in I didn't yell oww get off you'll break them!), that's when they felt like mine!

Re: when will I stop being scared of my new boobs?!
Oh Loui, I have been exactly the same.. For the first few weeks I hated my boobies.. Then I had days when I liked them and then others when I didn't like them.. And now.. I think I started liking them again.. With time I'm getting used to them and it feels so good to have boobies when I don't wear my massive padded bra I hated to look flat without my chicken fillets
Like Cooke says.. You need time to get used to them and.. You'll love them!!
And we're all here when you're feeling blue

Re: when will I stop being scared of my new boobs?!
Awww you'll be fine and good luck for the consultation next week - hope you get that all clear Lou
Re: when will I stop being scared of my new boobs?!
Good luck with you consultation. I was exactly the same, i slept up-right with my V pillow for 6 weeks. It was weird but after my 6 week check i suddenly felt like my boobs belonged to me. I've been sleeping on my side since, got myself into normal bra's etc. I'm sure you will feel much more relaxed once you get the all clear from your surgeon xx

Aw Lou, I agree with the girls once you get all clear from surgeon to treat them as your own and you get in normal bras, they'll suddenly feel like yours.
I had just 1 wee hurdle still to get over till I've felt completely normal with my boobs and that was lying on my front, I was so scared of squashing them or making them flat , but woohoo I did it yesterday for the first time and it actually felt ok and so relieved they're not any flatter x

Re: when will I stop being scared of my new boobs?!
i was the same. The day after my op I went home and took the band off and stared at the mirror and just started crying. They were square shaped and looked awful. I hated it and remember saying to my boyfriend "why on earth did i do this to myself?!". I avoided looking at them for a good 3 months, it's only last month in the january sale i got fitted, started buying bras and really started to like them. Now as each day goes by they are changing more and more, starting to soften and drop. It takes patience. My boyfriend loves teasing me and saying 'remember what you say the day after your surgery.." LOL

Re: when will I stop being scared of my new boobs?!
Yep they change so much. With me I had subfascial placement so like unders one was stuck on for anwhile. Tobias also twice as big. Then the swelling went down and it was still high up where I didn't have good tissue coverage and I noticed rippling in my cleavage. I hated looking at them as I just got worried. Then that one dropped and I got worried again as the other one hadn't. Now the other one has started to drop. Plus as the troublesome one dropped into the pocket it is now under Tissue so doesn't have rippling. I think it probably best to leave them alone and not get paranoid like I was lol. If anyone wants to see my progress thro all these changes them pm me. I will wait a day or two for the right to fully settle before I upload another photo.

Tobias? Already named them have you? Awesome! Hehe but yes that's so exciting. Gotta remember they are separate operations xxloui1981 wrote:Yep they change so much. Re: when will I stop being scared of my new boobs?!
hi loui - do you mind if i can see you pics.
I had my surgery on 12 dec and im still not accepting my boobs and im worried i do have one smaller than the other even though this wasnt noticeable before the op.
i have a feeling both of mines have dropped (not sure) but the left is still fuller and i can totally notice it but its hard to pic up on pics.
i am again just trying to be patient. feels like i have been waiting forever!!
