Anti-biotics
Hi ladies I haven't been on here for a while but I needed to rant.... I'm now 4 months post op and I should be enjoying my new additions but instead I'm worrying about my skin, since my op I've had really bad break outs on my face and my chest! I went to the drs and they gave me cream, which worked for my chest but it didn't sort out my face! I went back to the drs again and they have given me antibiotics, I've been on them for 3weeks now and I still get disheartened when I wake up with a new spot to my collection! I'm now trying microderbasions too but nothing seems to be helping.....any suggestions? I didn't have bad skin before so this is really getting me down! :( x

Re: Anti-biotics
Oh bless your heart c'mere babe
It is actually very common to get spots on 'the chest area'. I haven't really heard of it affecting the face though in the way you're personally having trouble.
Getting spots on your new boobs, especially in the cleavage area are very common after a BA.
It has something to do with the balance of your glands being effected by the surgery giving your skin a greasy appearance which causes the spots. As the glands heal and get back to normal the spots soon go lovely.
I personally found using bio-oil on my boobs just made the spots worse so I changed to Palmers cocoa butter which was much better.
It did last for months, but did eventually settle down.
Has your surgeon suggested a test on your hormone levels hun? Maybe referring you to a dermatologist? If they haven't then maybe go back and see them and ask that you get a referral and your hormones looked at.
As I said, I've know MANY women to have to deal with spots in the cleavage area after after a BA, one or two have had the occasional facial spot but nothing like the problem you're having lovely, so although it may seem connected its quite possible its coincidental hun and there's an underlying problem that needs treating.
Really hoping the anti-bs kick in and start working soon and that the microderbrasions help.

Re: Anti-biotics
So sorry to hear this hun.
I am constantly battling break outs too and I never had acne when I was a teenager and now at almost 30 it's not great.
Firstly - make sure you drink enough water. If you don't and suddenly start you will get short term increase in breakouts as you body flushes everything out but within weeks it helps. Really helped with me alongside with good oil free moisturiser.
Also there are various antibiotics for the acne but they may take 3-4 weeks before you see any effects. Has your GP done any blood tests too?
There are some stronger treatments for acne like accutane but it may affect your liver (hence you end up having liver function test regularly when on it).
Worth a visit back to your GP to discuss options babe xx

Re: Anti-biotics
I also get breakouts when I don't keep up on my multivitamins. A few years ago I had bloods done and my folate levels were low so I have to take folic acid every day, I can tell if I miss a dose as they come back.
Kinda embarrassing when I met my bf having to explain the daily folic acid supplement without sounding like I had an ulterior motive - esp with the picture of the pregnant lady on the bottle lol!!
Also if I don't do enough exercise and eat or drink the wrong things (for me anyway) they come too.
So perhaps get your GP to do some bloods just to check levels (hormones, kidney, liver and blood counts red and white) and see whether the breakouts are caused by anything else, doesn't hurt just to make sure xx
