Re: Recovery time
As you're in a job where you're on your feet and using your arms all day, I'd say 3wk should be fine if you can do so. Im a desk jockey, and I took 1wk off, but then a further 2wk working from home. I'd say take 2 at the minimum.

Re: Recovery time
Hiya,
Everyone ones different in how they recover from an op,
I had initially taken a week off annual leave but had to take a further week as there was no way I could have worked, took me well into 2nd week before I felt fit enough and started to feel able to do more, so I would say to take atleast 2 weeks off and also see how you are after your post op check. XXX

Re: Recovery time
Definately take the 3 weeks and if possible ease yourself back into work, maybe reduced hours if that is an option. XXXLyndsey81 wrote:I'm a hairdresser x so maybe give my self 3 weeks ?

Re: Recovery time
everyones diff after my first BA I had taken 2 weeks off and had to work 1 day before I stopped for my xmas holidays for a further 2 and a bit weeks and I had to call and ask my manager for that day off, and Im only at a desk answering calls and taking money, but I was just so tired and still sore, I did take longer to recover after my first ba though and was on slow release painkillers for over 3 weeks
this time after my reop I could have gone back the next day lol I felt great but tired i am still uncomfortable with having to wear the band and no bra so have no support, most days are fine but yesterda and last night i did struggle with some aches
generally you are asked to not use uppper body for 2 weeks and no excercise for 6 weeks, well most of us are, so if you can take the 3 weeks xx

Re: Recovery time
You could be fine to go back to work after 2 weeks with partials, but if you're hairdresser and needing to lift your arms its possible you'd need 3.
Depending on what you wanted to do you could book 2 weeks off and see how you feel then, you could even get yourself a not from your GP stating that you must only do light duties and no raising of arms if you wanted - reason stated: General Surgery, if you haven't told anyone and don't want anyone to know, or...if you feel well enough to go back with no problems, great! If not you can take the 3rd week off sick with a self certification again all you need write is 'general surgery'
Its entirely up to you hun and how you feel. We're made different and will heal different, so you can either take a chance and see how how it goes, or play it safe and book the 3 weeks off. Xx

Re: Recovery time
I am sure Soosie will be here soon- she had partials and is also a hairdresser and she was back in second week after the op. I guess everyone is different xx

Re: Recovery time
yeah def everyone is so so diff an we tbh we just dont know until YOU go though it, theres people who breeze past it and others who dont, however no matter how you feel its very important to listen to YOUR surgeons instructions as it can void aftercare if reop is needed, loads of people prob think into themselves ah reop never need one, I at the beginning thought like that and then bang needed a reop and if these boobies dont get heading south then could be looking at another op however its all covered free in aftercare cause I listened to all the instructions that my surgeon gave me
did I want to hoover before 6 weeks, yes
did I want to take ellie in the pool for physio before 12 weeks, yes
did i want to get back into excercising, yes
do I want to have this band of for an hour here and there, yes
was I allowed no loooool
so yip we are all so diff and all get diff recovery instructions so its really down to how long your surgeons tells you to rest up
its a tough old journey this boobie journey and sometimes I do come across as the negative one on saying take time to recover listen to the surgeon, but thats cause im 13 month down the line and having needed a reop know how important aftercare is xx
