Hi girls,

I am a Zumba instructor and am desperate to get back into teaching soon I am now 6 weeks post op and I know my body isn't ready. Have booked an apt with the surgeon for this coming Weds to see how I'm healing and really to ask the question of when I can return. I have some ladies helping me out at the moment, just literally up at the front demonstrating my routines but can't rely on them forever. Hoping the surgeon will say give it another couple of weeks/ a month and I'll be back doing it...what do you think? Any instructors/personal trainers out there?

I think when I initially go back I'll start off by just doing the 3 warm ups and perhaps the cool downs and get one of my ladies to fill in the middle more strenuous part and also if it hurts I can sit out and she'll take over. Just itching to go back now, have put on a fair bit of weight and never told my customers what operation I had so people are wondering and asking questions as to when I'm back.

Any advice would be appreciated  Hug

I never went anywhere near classes etc for around 12 weeks post op, that was on my surgeons instructions thouhgh however my body too wasnt ready I got really breathless easily

my advice is just to wait and see what surgeons says and if he says ur good to go in easily and slowly u know yourself that the body will tell if its ready not

good luck xx

Even at 6 weeks I wasn't ready to get back into the gym and classes.

Listen to your body and take it from there unfourtnatly there's no exact answer it's how you feel and what your body can not only cope with but what's comfortable and for you to not over do it.

As for the weight it'll come off straight away when you get back into it.

Starting off gentle like warm ups and cool downs is a sensible way to ease back into it.

Hey,

I do classes and even though I was given the ok to go back to them at six weeks I eased into training sessions to see how I would be, and was fine so just before christ, as I started back doing combat and have just this afternoon(11 weeks post op) got back into doing pump ( light weights not like I used to do before ba) just yet but hopefully will get back to that.

What placement of implants did you have? I had overs as told surgeon I do weights at thw gym as the placement makes a difference

Tinks, that means another 6 weeks :( thanks hoping its good news!

Mrs Ball I suppose the thing I worry about the most is getting CC as I heard you can get that from doing stuff too soon i.e. exercise? My body is so not ready now after 6 weeks I can feel it.

Hi Rachij, Do you instruct at the classes or just participate? So u waited 11 weeks before going back? I think when the surgeon says I can I'll do the same and ease into it as I say just teaching 3 or 4 songs (easy ones) and then either sitting out or do it half effort. I had partial unders. Hoping surgeon says its not too long!

I just participate in classes - I did do spin at 4-5 weeks but did my training sessions taking it easier (my trainer knew I was having it done -female by the way) so if it hurt or pulled we would do something else.

Yesterday i did my first pump class since beginning of October and am aching now but not round my chest.
