Hey!

I was just wondering, have any of you experienced engorgement after having a baby?
I remember a having a conversation with my mom when I was and she told me that breast surgery hurts more (and really I suffered!!) but have since discovered my mom is a bit of a wimp lol.

So anybody able to help? I'd just like to be prepared, my operation is on friday.

Thank you :)

Hi ash, I had my surgery on sat, day 2 today, and seriously it's not that bad at all, for me I'd describe it very similar to breast engorgement but without the pain, you get the heavy hard feeling, plus they give you painkiller which really helps with the discomfort, but as far as my experience I've had so far I wouldn't say I've been in any pain, you've had kids this will be a walk in the park so to speak lol I've had overs what are you having etc

Wow how does it feel knowing it's been done?? lol

I think I'm having 275cc and unders.

I could deal with the tight skin of engorgement it was the pain of them feeling like they were about to explode haha.
What about you?

It feels amazing, so glad I did it, they are hard but not overly swollen, well least I hope not as they'll be a lot smaller when swelling goes down lol, I had 300 cc overs, I've been really surprised how well I've felt as like you I'd prepared myself for the worse, but have to say whole experience as been great so far, I've got two kids my youngest is 19 mths now but rememember the breast engorgement well lol having kids is bloody painful lol ba is no where near that, so you will be fine

It's not pain it's only discomfort... I woke up and asked for pain relief which they provided right away... And your recovery will be ok too... They don't feel like they are going to explode!
Just go into it prepared to have lack of arm movement and to take it slow but you won't be in pain, nothing you can't handle x

I wouldn't say it felt like engorgement, but I had an uplift as well so I couldn't and still can't feel my actual boobs so my pain was just from the muscles, it felt like I had over done it  at the gym or something.

I had mastitis twice as it is no where near as painful than that and it's probably not even as painful as engorgement

I'm 4 days post op and yesterday was the worsed, but when I say the worsed I just mean I was uncomfortable and couldn't sleep properly last night, as the other girls have said, it's discomfort rather than pain, I'd prepared myself for far worse so I've been pleasently surprised and actually really enjoyed the day when I had it done (does that make me sound weird? Haha) it's the tiredness that I wasn't prepared for! Xx

Its not a pain so much as an achyness. They'll be sore, but not OMG painful. Immediately post op they will give you plenty of painkillers to help, then a lot of girls on here find that around day 3 theyre ok with just paracetamol. The best thing you can do is to stick with it. Even if you feel ok, dont skip a dose, because it'll just be the meds masking the soreness.

I cant speak to the engorgement having had no chiddlers, but what that might be refferring to is 'morning boob'. For the first couple of weeks, when you move your body from a flatter position to upright, all the blood and fluids with the swelling are going to rush back into your boobs, and I wont lie, its going to ache. Kinda like when the blood comes back to your limbs after pins and needles. But it only lasts a minute before your body readjusts, and you'll be fine again.

Please dont worry too much about the pains, its no where near as bad as people think. Just achy and heavy.

Remember we all heal differently but you don't need to be nervous, we are all here saying that it's not painful but more discomfort or aching... It's nothing you can't handle honestly, yes you will be tired, limited movement and difficultly doing things for yourself but you won't be in pain xx

What you need to focus on Ashleamai, is that you won't suffer anything you won't be able to control with pain meds that you'll be given after your surgery.

We each have our own pain threshold and ways that we will handle the discomfort, but at no time ever will you not be able to cope.

Morning boob is the worst you'll experience and this is when you've slept for a long while or remained seated for a long while and the swelling settles in your boobs. Your boobs may feel hard and uncomfortable, but just being able to get up and have a little walk around does help, along with ice packs which are a must also to help with the discomfort.

You're going to be just fine! And we will be here for you to talk you through anything you're experiencing that you're not sure of... We'll be with you all the way.  Hug

I think it's finally hit me today then by the end of the week I'm gonna look different lol. I'm also very very paranoid I'm going to struggle with my son. I won't see him until Sunday night when he'll go straight to bed and he is spending a lot of Monday out with my dad. I can't wait for the next couple of weeks to be over so I can resume normal life ha!
