consult number 2

So today is my 2nd nhs consult. As many of you will know ive been told I need to lose weight and have struggled.
I've just weighed myself and I'm the same weight as I was at my 1st consult :-(.

A friend said I should get my thyroid level checked as for the last month I've worked my @rse off and gone up and down.
So I've booked an appointment with my GP to discuss this.

I'll update once I've been to see consultant x

Sorry to hear you didn't loose the weight but its still worth going and seeing what the surgeon says.. maybe the GP could give you an answer also... I know you've been waiting so long so I have my fingers crossed for you xxxxx

Thanks to you both. If I do have an under active thyroid it would explain so much as to why my weight goes up and down.

Im pretty scared at the moment because I really thought I would have done it and got the go ahead

Aww I guess you must feel really disappointed... Just wait and see what your told today.. if he gives you another appointment in a few months at least then you will know how disappointed you feel this time and will ensure you don't feel like it again! I will be waiting to hear from you! I hope you get good newsx

Don't be scared Victoria. If you hadn't tried then yes.... You would have good reason to be scared, but you've tried so, so hard and that's something to be proud of and not scared about.

Maybe it would help to document the weight gain/losses for the surgeon to see how your weight has fluctuated as well as listing your general daily diet so he can see what goods you're eating. This might help him come to the conclusion that there may just be that underlying factor that is preventing this weightloss needed babe. Xx

I feel like crap tbh jen.

Cookie I've taken a note from my slimming world book of how my weight has fluctuated.

The nhs can't tell me to sod off can they?

If I do have thyroid problems I'll be absolutely gutted because I don't wanna be on medication for rest of my life, but if I do then thats life and it's an explanation to why im not getting anywhere with my weight. X

You've been assessed as a medical case Victoria so the HNS has a duty of care now to ensure your well being, so no lovely... They can't tell you to sod off Hug

You're doing the right thing taking with you all the information you have - being in the medical profession yourself you'll know that the more information a doc has, the better it is for them to try and focus on possible diagnosis.

Go with an open mind Victoria... Whatever it is, whatever it takes... Just go with it. This is YOUR journey babe and its been a bloody hard one for you, so do what you have to do to get to where you want to be hun... Just stay focused and stand strong. Xxx

That's true. He's just a scary looking guy lol.

Im a nervous wreck but my gran is coming with me again so i won't be on my own.

Appointment is at 2.55 so we'll see what he says and I'll update after that x

I've to go back in 6months. Not a happy girl tbh. But he did say if I could get down to 12stone before then to go to my GP before that and they'll contact him x

Aww Victoria, you have to look at this as a positive, you can do this now and it's great that he said you can see your gp before if you do manage to loose some!! Really go for it, (tough time over Xmas I know) but if you can do it and get your boobs it will all be worth it!! Xx

Keep going at it you'll get there - think of the prize at the end!!!!!! Also don't weigh yourself every week ( I weigh myself every month or so and it's a nice surprise when I've lost weight :)

Just feel so annoyed with myself. He looked at my weight changes since last apt an said it didnt add up. So hopefully my gp will give me answers on wed.

Rachi I go to slimming world so get weighed every week.

He didnt even weigh me so no idea how much I actually weigh atm x

Hey, maybe you need a change of diet plan (weight watchers etc?) Or maybe you've plateaued like I did then changed diets and lost weight.

Another idea is maybe get a referral to a dietician to do you a diet plan? Explain that you need to loose x amount of weight and see what they come up with.

Not the news you were hoping for Victoria, but keep focused and believe in yourself, you've come so far already don't let the hurdles you have to get over slow you down. You go girl and hold that surgeon to his word and get back in front of him before the 6 mnth mark. How do you feel in yourself do you feel more toned, have you been exercising to try help the weight loss? Sometimes the scales can be evil as muscle is heavier than fat it may be the case you're getting leaner without realising it, maybe try a different approach for a couple of weeks and go with how your clothes feel. Look at the positives Victoria - he hasn't given up on you!

This is still VERY much within reach.

Next thing to do is arrange an appointment with your GP and get to the bottom if why your weight does fluctuate as much as it has.

I honestly think Victoria once you get to the bottom of the cause of the weight problem it will be plain sailing then and you could be seeing the surgeon again sooner than later... So hold on to that hope hun. Get to your GP ASAP and that's step one!...

One step at a time hun. No pressure on you, just take things a day at a time and stay focused.

Im sticking to plan and only having 1 treat every few days.
Im going to get my thyroid level checked on Wednesday.

I've been going swimming twice a week...when possible. Eating my weight in fruit an veg. Everything slimming world asks for.

Im gonna look into a thing called I lipo. Its a laser lipolysis that works over 8 treatments and is non evasive

Cookie - what he said was they would use tissue expander in left then implant and uplift in right and possibly implant too.

He wants me down to 12 stone. So 11lbs to lose.

He also said that they shouldn't see me at clinic till im right weight and asked if I had seen ben chew. I only knew he would be doing surgery through my gp because I asked for referral letter from her x

Thanks cookie. I had my blood test this morning. She took thyroid blood test, blood glucose an summit else.

Im feeling bit more relaxed and am determined to lose the 12lbs in less than 6months. The quicker I do it the quicker I can go back an meet ben chew x

I have fat club at 6 so we'll see if any change in weight this week x

She said results will be back Monday at latest. Im nervous about them but more relaxed. Although I hav a plaster on each arm plus my right arm hurts from yesterday's flu jag lol x

Lol to be fair I feel skinny at it. I have an aabsolute cheek after I weigh in lol. In car an eat a milky way. Just a rule between me an my mum lol.

I think I've just been so bloomin stressed trying to lose the weight that I've been feeling really crap and lost my self esteem x
