my 6 week check up
Hi ladies, another 6 week check-up question ! (so many of us May girls had our ops around the same time :))
Everything went well - no problems, but I forgot to ask about massaging the boob itself (not just the scar). My ps didn't mention anything so I'm wondering whether, because I had anatomicals, I shouldn't do anything just yet (in case it makes them rotate :dunno: ). I'm a bit confused though as I know he's told other women on here to start massaging at 6 weeks ...
Mia, you had anatomicals didn't you? And I think you said NP said you could start massaging at 6 weeks. Is that right?
I'm wondering whether I should send him an email to double-check, but I don't like to bother him about something so small ...
Thanks ladies! :)

I didnt ask SH about massaging either, i may do at my upcoming 6 month check up, but seeing as you have anatomicals and textured implants i wouldn't without getting the all clear Annie. I know rubbing cream in boobies isnt considered massaging though so thats ok! lol x

Yes, you're right - i'm definitely sure he would have said something if he thought I should be doing it - he doesn't leave anything to chance! I'll just stick to rubbing in the bio-oil

Hi Annie!!
Soo glad all is well...It is a great stage in the journey the 6week mark !!
Settles the mind, to clarify and confirm progress and concerns, and enables you to kind of forget about the fact they have not always been there :allo:
I was not actually told to massage, I asked, if and when they would soften and perhaps be more movable and closer together? I also said I was afraid to touch them yet??
He said to treat them like 'normal breasts' That memory had escaped me
NP then demonstrated on my 'new friends' how to massage to speed up the process if so wanted. I met with him this week, and asked again if I was doing it O.K.?
He said they are very robust and you can be pretty rough with them if you want, also mine are now pretty soft and squishy, no scar tissue etc. However, can do if I want, You need to be quite firm, start from upper outside of breasts and in firm circular movements push in and up as you cup the breasts in your hand. It seems to have helped mine......I use bio oil, though no need for anything, I do this twice a day 5mins roughly, if and when I remember.
But, like you Annie I have heard differing advice. And I was advised not to do it before he had seen me at the 6/7 week check, due to anatomical, textured implants and rotation concerns. So, a quick call may be a wise option for your peace of mind.
Good Luck!! Hope you are still as delighted as me xx

Hi Mia,
Thanks for that - yes, still loving them - feel very satisfied and happy with my new . Though with every week that goes by they occupy less and less of my mental space (which has to be a good thing! ) I was thinking about them 24/7 in the lead up to the operation ...
I've decided to just leave the massaging for now and ask about it at my 6 month check-up. I think I got confused between people massaging their scars rather than massaging their boobs  . They're still a bit tender to be honest and appreciate a gentle touch. Went back to the gym today too and have decided that it's still too early for arm and pec work - beewbies definitely let me know that they weren't ready for that stuff either!

Hi Annie,
Yes it is soo confusing differening advice, I think we need to remember we are all different and what is good or right for one may well not be for someone else. It is good to seek others experience and then decide if it is right for you and clarify with your P.S. There is just soo many little things that we all fail to ask or remember.
If you are still tender and not up for gym etc. I feel you are doing the right thing listening to your body. I felt the same at 6 weeks I was having physio and gym work.....not too comfortable on the
However,...it just seems to happen, that you know you are progressing when you have done something that you perhaps thought you couldent .......and you just get on with everything without a thought to them. It gets better by the day!!!
soo glad you are happy....boobs are brilliant xx

Re: my 6 week check up
Hi annie,
I logged on today to ask the very same question as you..and find yours top of the list..spooky!!
I was thinking of starting to massage but now will leave it until I see the nurse at the 6 week check up which should have been next week.....wow..it's gone so fast....but will now be the week after...
went for a measurement on Sat and was told I was a 34 E....( would have freaked out about this 4 weeks as only wanted to be a D....and def not more than a DD.....but surprised that I feel comfortable with them)
also still riding the storm with the comments from work.....most of them have guessed and make little funny remarks to catch me out..lol......

Good to see you back Shandy! Great that you are feeling comfortable with your 34Es !! You get used to them really quickly don't you? I was a horrible saggy 34aa and am now a lovely firm pert 34 c . But I mentioned to my surgeon yesterday that sometimes I think they're a little too small - then he showed me my pre-op pics and we both agreed that THEY were what you'd call small boobies!!!
Just ignore the remarks from work - they're probably just really jealous now that you've got great boobs and they haven't!

Thanks Mia , it's good to know it gets better every day ... I think for now I'm mainly going to stick with squats, pilates-type exercises for my abs and some cycling for cardio. I've really missed my gym work this last 6 weeks though I must say. But given that my thighs are now really tingling after all the squat work I did today, I know for sure that one part of my body is starting to tone up again!
And yeah, boobs are brilliant ... sigh

AH!! Annie
I know what you mean.....one part of the body is new and pert...... and others well, are heading south with me.
I do pilates, I bought a machine for home quite recently as I was struggling to keep up in classes...due to problem with neck and back.
I will wait untill I return from short holiday before gettting back to physio/gym...he pushes me a bit too much, and rolling on the excercise ball does not agree with xx
Good Luck...I am sure we will get in shape soon enough...gently does it  xx

Hi Annie!
Long time no speak - been v busy but glad you're doing ok.
I was told at my 10 day check-up to massage the upper pole of the breast, twice a day for 2 mins each with the palm of my hand (i had textured anatomicals too). So the advice is so different isn't it from diff surgeons...
Think it's really softened them up so worth doing if your guy gives u the ok..

Hi LMT!
Great to hear from you :) Still enjoying your new boobies I hope!
Yes, they do all seem to have different opinions on what to do don't they! But what you describe sounds nice and gentle. Interestingly, with me, the top of the boob feels completely natural but the 'overs' bit (at the bottom and outer side), is still a bit firm and rubbery. It's the most tender bit too - which I think is a bit odd because I would have thought the overs bit would be less achey than the unders bit .
The mysterious world of post-op :flash:instructions ...

Re: my 6 week check up
Completely the opposite with me! the under bit feels really springy and firm and the sides and bottom feel much softer (under bit more tender too..)
Hmmm not sure I'm enjoying my boobs yet, still wearing my strap and it is soooooooo hot and uncomfortable in this weather.. only a week to go, hurray! Can't wait to get some nice bras and stop squashing my poor boobies with strap/sports bra etc, not the most flattering look!

it's so weird isn't it ... I guess this is why we get different post-op instructions

It's a real shame that you have to have the strap on in this heatwave but you're nearly there now LMT .
I was given the all clear to wear ordinary bras etc last week, but to be honest it felt really strange wearing an underwired one - I could only keep it on for a few hours and then I wanted to get back in the sports bra! And it's also taking me a while to get used to not wearing the support bra at night - I thought I'd be so much more comfortable without it, but I tried sleeping without it for a few days and really missed it!
