Sleep/pain :(
Hey everybody, I'm almost 2 days post op n had my 1st night home last night n it was a nightmare trying to get comfy whilst keeping my back raised..no matter what way I lay my back would end up throbbing..
...anyways finally managed to get a few hrs sleep but woke up there with my right boob in absolute agony! Every time I take a breath I feel like someone is hitting it with a hammer n so tight :( is this normal? I'm panicking a bit the pain has been sore but bare able until now :( xx

Re: Sleep/pain :(
Hi Susan. I feel sorry for you, it can be very uncomfortable the first few days/nights and I know what u mean about a sore back - I would wake up and my back was really sore but I couldn't move to fix myself as when I moved the pain in my boobs was really bad! Honestly it does get better. I ended up sleeping on the couch a few nights as it was easier to stay propped up. Hope u feel better soon. Big hugs xxxxx

Re: Sleep/pain :(
Hi Hun x make sure you keep on top of your painkillers for the first few days, taking them regularly this really does help. I had so many pillows I created a small arm chair in my bed! I had my v pillow curved round the base of my back and a pillow under my knees and was basically sitting upright. Hope you feel better soon x

Re: Sleep/pain :(
Hi Susan, hope with the above tips you have a better night sleep...
If your worried you can ring the clinic but remember that each boob is a separate operation and one can quite commonly be more painful then the other, this can be down to one breast suffering more trauma then the other xx

Re: Sleep/pain :(
Day 3 is generally the worst Hun, as the swelling will be kicking in now giving that tight heavy constricted feeling.
Keep up with pain killers and use ice packs For instant reliefs though keep away from insions and use over your bra.
As for sleeping cookie always suggests a rolled up towel in the small of your back and under your knees ro relieve that pressure x
It will get better hum, usually a week is a turning pont for most x

Re: Sleep/pain :(
When you had this surgery babe, you didnt have one op, you had two - one on each breast and more likely then not one breast will mostly always have more trauma during surgery than the other and this is why one breast might be more uncomfortable, or it might take longer to heal than the other hun.
As for the pillow castle, this is the best way I found to get comfortable:
2 pillows and a V-pillow behind you head. Only one pillow is necessary and a v-pillow if this makes you more comfortable, you only need your head and shoulders raised above your chest. You do not need to be sat upright at all.
A pillow under each arm, this supports your arms.
A pillow under your knees
A rolled towel with a hot water bottle inside placed in the small of your back. The heat helps your back soooo much.
When standing, you'll also find you instinctively want to hunch, this too plays havoc with your back, so if you think about your posture too and try and stand as straight as you can this too will help.
For the swelling on your boobs - ice packs! They're incredible hun and will help so much. Never place them near incisions though, only on the tops of your boobs. The relief you get from using ice packs is bliss!
Hope you feel a little better tomorrow hun. Xx

Re: Sleep/pain :(
If it unbearable Susan, then your surgeon should have given you an emergency number you could call at any time upon discharge with your discharge notes babe.
Do give them a call if the pain just can't be controlled lovely and get them to check it out for you.

Re: Sleep/pain :(
It'll get better Susan as each day passes. I know you say you feel OK if you don't move but that's actually the worse thing you can do for yourself Susan. So do be sure to have a little walk around every couple of hours or so sweetie. This isn't just to help with the swelling hun but also to help avoid DVT too. Xx

Re: Sleep/pain :(
aw hope that your feeling a little more comfortable real soon
I was one of the very unlucky girls that was real sore for almost 2 weeks and even after then I was still on slow release tramadol to get me through the day!!
I found like cookie said v pillow and lots of other pillows are your side and I also used a microwavable wheat pouch at my lower back and that really helped with the lower back pain
I really do feel for you but it does get better, promise xx
