BA under Local & sedation Empty BA under Local & sedation

Post by Jenidj 19th August 2013, 7:39 pm

Hi

Has anyone any experience of having their BA done under Local and Sedation rather than full on GA ?

The clinic in Glasgow offer both options but at £1500 difference in price and the overnight stay to consider the Local sounds more appealing but not sure if i fancy the sensation whilst awake. My consult isnt until week tomorrow but the receptionist said its pretty much in and out of sleep and you dont really remember anything thats happened .

Had 3 sections but all under spinal/epidural so numb from the chest down yes there was rummaging and no pain but it was half way down the body not under my chin

So anyone any advice on this

TIA

Hello and welcome to Breast Buddies jenidj wavey

You can read a story written by one our members who had twilight sedation [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

If you feel its something you're comfortable with and you're surgeon is happy to do then there's no reason why you shouldn't have this jenidj. X

Hello wavey

I'm another who has never heard of this option.

It wouldn't be for me, but there are the obvious benefits of not having a GA.

Ive had 3 csections so shouldnt be put off by it but i guess its because its just near my head and not half way downy body lol

Quite common now so i believe i prefer the thought of being home that day not staying away overnight from the kids etc so does appeal just wanted other peoples advice regards feeling/pain etc x

Even with a ga you can be a day case, however, even though I've never had it, it must work as it wouldn't be an option! So if its for you, go for it :-) x

The story I linked you to jenidj tells a very good story and I have read others to that have have good experiences with Twilight.

Like mrsball, you CAN go home on the same day if you have no health problems prior to your op with a GA. but if you're not at all squeamish, then go for it babe. Xx

Oh no thanks! I can see the benefits of being much more coherent a lot quicker...but the fact your not spark out...She says in the story she started giggling. Id be so worried that Id do something like that, or move by accident and cause something to go wrong...Sorry if I sound really negative, but really not for me!

So you don't have to stay in long after? Think I'd want to be in hospital at least a few hours after... Sounds like she went home straight away? Lol x
