Long haul flight + hols
I'm thinking of getting my boobies booked in for first week in September, but I already have a holiday to Florida booked for end of October. Has anyone here travelled that far 6-8 weeks post op? How was it? I'm not so concerned with the flight, but being able and ready to do things like the parks and lots of swimming.
Any advice? xx

You will be fine to fly hun! Swimming is something that needs to be discussed with your surgeon, I wasn't allowed to swim for 3 months. You will need to stay away from roller coasters. But general walking around and sight seeing will be fine hun xx
Your boobs will need to be covered at all times, high factor sun block and t shirt or top. And your scars must not be exposed to the sun x

I am 10 wk post op and head away at 12wks but just a short 3 hour flight.I think sone surgeons recommend no long haul flights for a few months following surgery. As for the swimming.. You may still need to wear your sports bra at this stage (can range between 4-12 weeks). Id discuss all these with your surgeon hun. I got the all clear for swimming, wires etc at 8 wks so u might be lucky xx

Re: Long haul flight + hols
I went to Latin America with a friend that had her boobs done 4 weeks before we went there.
She was standing in the pool with water up to her waist every day, it looked so funny and everyone was wondering why she was just standing there. But she was happy and so was her boobs when we went home.
But, we didn't do much on this trip more than to eat and relax so I don't know how she would have felt is we would have done a lot of walking and other activities.
Your surgeon will know what's best for you.

My surgeon said yesterday no swimming for 2 more weeks (so that will be 8 weeks post op) but mainly thats because of my silly scar not totally healing over quite yet. ven if you don't get the all clear to swim you can still (as said above) stand waist deep in the water or sit in the shallow end.
The parks in Florida are amazing, i would be very sad missing all of the rollercoasters as i am a speed freak but there are plenty of other things to do in there so i am sure you will still have a fab time.
You will i think still need some rest though..i'm 6 weeks and still quite sore some evenings if i have done too much at work.

Its possible you may still be in sportsbras when you go away lovely, so do be aware of that and if that's the case then there's lots of pretty crop top in the shops right now that will help cover a sportsbra that you can match up with any bikini bottoms you have right now.
Your skin is going to be super sensitive after being so stretched so you'll need a high factor sun cream on them babe, or better still cover them up completely and at no point should you expose your scars to sunlight/sunbeds until they're a year post-op due to the risk of pigmentation hun (scars going brown) so keep those safe out of the way.
You would be wise to also be aware of the possibility of spitting stitches, these are stitches that can wriggle their way to the top of the skin months after surgery! If this happens and you've had the the all clear at 6 weeks to go in the pool and treat your boobs as your own then you'll need to stay clear of the pool babe, so just be sure to check every morning that no stitches have come through. If they do they create an opening and this creates a risk of infection if you do go on the pool, so be sure to keep it clean, then keep it dry sweetie, but if it does go red at all, you'll need to see a doc to have the stitch snipped. Once its gone the opening closes almost overnight! Its nothing to worry about but something you need always check for. Xx

Hi ladies,
Thank you all so much for your advice! It's good to have all the info beforehand. I'm seeing the surgeon for a second consultation soon so I will get their thoughts written down too!
Sorry I've not replied to you before but I've not had access to a computer.
Thanks again!! xx:giveu:
