Incision troubles :(
So had my dressings changed and my mum done them who's a nurse as I had trouble getting to my one week appointment. I spoke to the clinic explained my mum was a nurse and they was happy for her to check my incisions and I'm booked in next Friday.
She said lefty was really doin well so cleaned it and put a fresh dressing on it, the right one has a tiny hole in the end and a stitch poking out, they are dissolvable stitches so mum said she will leave it and the body should either dissolve it or it will come out but she's going to keep an eye on it. The hole she said was not infected and she put steri strips on it and a new dressing.
She's told me to leave them alone not take my bra off at all anymore and she will check progress Saturday.
I've rung the nurse at the clinic today and she said everything mum done is exactly what she would of done but if on Saturday it's worse or it starts to burn/ I get a temperature phone them on the emergency number and they will get me in.
Sorry for this long post now my question lol has anyone else had a hole in their incision did it close up ok? I'm really really paranoid of gettin a infection and I'm a bit scared :( xx

Oh hun, Im sure its ok. Give it until saturday like they said. Your body will tell you if somethings going wrong, like they said, fever etc. I didnt have a hole as such, but some bleeding and an extra large scab to one side of mine that was painful and wouldnt heal even at 5wks. It was like a plug almost, so I was naughty and plucked it out (after having the biggest panic/flap attack ever!). It bled a little, but has healed fine now. Big hugs

Re: Incision troubles :(
Holes in the incision is absolutely fine Katie and nothing at all for you to be worrying about. As long as the tissue surrounding it looks good, which your mum says it is, all is well hun.
The ends were the knots are on the dissolvable stitches can be a little trouble sometimes. I would advise that you do make an appointment to see your clinic nurse though, although your mum is a nurse, the nurses at the clinic should be trained to deal with 'cosmetic wounds' and it may be that the stitch just needs a little snip to release it and as soon as that stitch comes out, the hole closes almost right away!
So don't worry hun... It's VERY common. Xx

No use worrying about something before it happens hon, I know its easier said then done though. Just take it easy, if it starts to feel unusually painful or hot get you mum to check it again xxx

Re: Incision troubles :(
Hi Katie, like all the other girls said try not to worry about it!
I rejected a few stitches including the knots in my right side. I got an infection in the knot area and ended up being redressed every day and having strong antibiotics. It hurt like hell for a week and wasnt pretty to look at. I ended up pulling a stitch out and having to have a knot cut off. This has in no way affected the aesthetics of my boobs and tbh you'd be hard pushed to tell I'd had an infection as it has healed really well!
Don't worry about it. Make sure it stays clean and dry and if you start to get a throbbing/burning sensation ring the clinic xx
