Softness and massage
How long does it take for them to soften? I have read on a few places about massage but my surgeon has told me not to? I'm concerned about this and also not to use ice packs?
Iv heard that massaging helps to prevent CC? Should I try it anyway?
Today is a worrying day I think...

Re: Softness and massage
No, no-one should be massaging 'textured' implants through their recovery. They aren't made to be massaged. The textured covered is made to adhere to the breast pocket on its own and movement of the implant is just going to delay that happening. Your textured implants require stability hun. So leave them be hun.
The only time you'll hear of someone massaging their implants through recovery is if they have smooth implants, or with textured, if they have a stubborn boob or they have early signs of CC?
Not sure why he doesn't want you to use ice packs though?

Re: Softness and massage
Don't massage unless you're told as the others have said. I've no idea why he said no ice packs tho =s they really helped soothe my swelling so maybe just ring up and check this. As for softening my God they just soften and soften and soften and when you don't think they'll soften anymore, guess what? They soften again! You will first start to feel the top soften, then it will be the sides, then lastly the bottom but honestly you'll just never believe how soft they can get it's unbelievable! There's no way you would ever be able to tell mine were fake if not for the scarring but even then that sits right in the crease! x x x x
Re: Softness and massage
Wow well just phoned up and they are textured... I'm go smacked really. I'm not freaking out that the rate of CC is higher and also they are likely to feel less natural... I really just assumed they would be smooth...

Re: Softness and massage
According to the Internet this hasn't actually been confirmed to be correct... Also according to the Internet smooth ones has less complication rate and last longer... Now I really am freaking out.

Re: Softness and massage
Gz123, I know it's easy for me to say as I'm still Pre BA, however try not to worry about things. So many people have said you've got to give your body a chance to accept the implants and start to heal around them.
Try and relax and take each day as it comes.x

Hun,there is nothing to freak out about. They wouldnt have put something in your body that wasnt 100% safe. CC is just one of those things, you could have an implant that has every preventative measure under the sun, and still get it. Youre so so early in recovery, its going to take a long time for them to soften. Please dont start panicking now, give it 6months to see your end result.

Re: Softness and massage
I would think textured lowers the risk of CC because the implant itsself will adhere to the breast, instead of the breast having to contract around a smooth implant to keep it there.
If smooth ones had less complication rates, don't you think all the surgeons would use them to save the money of the "inevitable re-ops" for textured implants? That's my theory anyway, and the NHS uses textured Nagor Impleo implants.
Trust me, they do get unbelievably smooth! Mine feel like a natural boob, in fact, they feel even softer than my natural boob because before it was all constricted and now it isn't! x x x

Aww lovely it'll get better, you will pick up. Everyone goes through a bit of boobie blues along the way, i know i certainly did. Just remember why you had them done in the first place x
Re: Softness and massage
Yeah I feel better tonight. I had just assumed I had smooth and then read a few worrying things on the Internet about textured and started to panic. Thanks for all the advice
