Hi, I really want a ba. My bf & I have looked at our finances & realistically it's going to take 18 months (give or take) to save up. So what I wanted to know is; when would you recommend starting to have consultations? I was thinking of having some soon, but thought, is there any point just yet? & if I find the surgeon I want will it just make me more depressed about waiting?!

Hi becci, welcome to the site, it's a great place to share advice and information :-)
I think it's up to you when to start having consultations, it's best to be as informed as possible so it could be an idea now to go and see a few surgeons and see what they recommend, then you can do some research to see if you agree with what they say. I know what u mean tho 18 months seems a long time and you don't want to get yourself down in the dumps waiting for your BA once u know what you're going to go for. See what the other girls recommend :-) xxx

Hi! I actually went for my first round of consultations about 18 months before getting them done! It was something I'd wanted forever, and while I knew I wasn't quite there yet, I was at the point where I'd done all the research I could online, and it was time to start getting some real world info, ie what would be best for me. So no, I don't think it's too early, as long as you're realistic about your wait and remember it'll be worth it in the end saving up and not paying a credit card off for 2 years!

Thank you both. That's exactly what I was thinking Charli, I need a bit more info on what is right or me - plus I should be able to get a better idea on price than just my 'guesstimates'. Plus the sooner I start, the more info I can get.
I just keep telling myself, my son is 2.5yrs & that's gone really quickly, so hopefully 1.5yrs will

Take your time Becci. When you're decided and set that this is the oath you're going to take you can literally run away with it in excitement making bad decisions and regretting choices later.

You've plenty of time, so maybe take time first to research before going for any consultations at all. Get an understanding of what everything means in regard to surgery plans i.e placements, profile and implants shapes. Learning these 'before' going for consultations gives you a far better opportunity to get the most from any consultations you do go on because you'll be able to question things if you thought you might prefer something else, or think something might be better for you given your own research and be able to put that to a surgeon.

Gather all your information in prep for a consultation including pictures of the 'look' you're hoping to achieve.

All of this takes time in itself.

And then there's researching surgeons... From reading forums such as ours you get a feel for some surgeons/clinics and from there do your own research on those. Get yourself a few surgeons that you're interested in, but remember... Techniques may well change a year away from now, so I'd personally look to booking consultations nearer then so you know exactly what you're dealing with.

Of course, there's no harm at all in you seeing surgeons whenever you want to, that entirely up to you Becci and any help you need along the way, we're here if you need us. Xx

Thank you cookie. It's definitely what I want.. Ever since having my son 2.5yrs ago I've hated my boobs :( but I wanted to finish having children & lose my baby weight before 'seriously' thinking about it. It's nearly 7 months since having my daughter & I've lost most of my baby weight. In the meantime I have done quite a lot of research, though no idea how I didn't find this place sooner!!! I can already see I'm going to find it really helpful
I suppose I'm just eager to move on to the next level... I obviously want to make sure that I get the best results possible, but like you say, it's also really exciting! (& I'm not good at waiting)

I doubt many of us are babe...

You'll find a wealth of information on the forum Becci. We've had so many women come here thinking they'd done their research only to find that we offer has taught them so much more, so do use us lovely... I'm not saying you need further research, just that you never know what you might learn Give You

Looking forward to following your journey. Maybe you could start here by adding a savings ticker? This might help motivate you as you post and watch that ticker get closer and closer to your goal yahoo

That's a really good idea, thank you :)
I will definitely be using this forum, I've already found tips I hadn't thought of - like taking my own pictures in of what result I'd like etc, so I'm sure ill find even more. Will be so good to talk to people in a similar situation to me too, as my bf-supportive as he is- doesn't really get it! & none of my friends are in my situation either.

hey hun i would start having consultations as soon as you can because i honestly thought i knew it all after researching so much on here and i waited til completing my studies to get the ball rolling with consultations. i wanted to book for this october as its a quiet time of year for me. but since graduating ive seen 2 surgeons who have given me different opinions about how they would proceed (i need an uplift too) and its really confused me. needless to say i wish i'd just gone for a few consultations a while back as i would have taken the time to process it over the past year whereas now i feel ive had to put booking the op on the back burner.

im going to see a 3rd surgeon to get another opinion on how my surgery at the end of september and if everything goes ok with this one, ill probably book the op for feb/march, when ideally i would have been nearing 6 months post-op. so my advice to you would be to get a few opinions for now, maybe go with the free consultations offered by hospital group or transform to get an idea of size, placement etc and keep researching as much as you can before you book. this site really is the best so take advantage of the help, support and advice. xxx

You can never do enough research! Lots of ladies on here have consultations months before a BA and before they even have the money saved Smike  i say do it now to make sure its 100% what you want to do, also it will get you so excited and all the more motivated to save up!! Your boobie journey will begin as soon as you make a first call, its so exciting! Xx

Thank you both for your advice :) that was kind of what I was thinking, but wasn't sure what everyone else did! So is good to hear that you think it's a good idea to start soon. Am so glad I've found this place and can chat to people who have been/are going through it all as well.
At the moment I kind of feel like I have all this information in my head, but don't know what to do with it. And until I actually see someone I don't think I can make sense of it all; for eg I don't really understand the cc sizes etc
& I want it to start feeling real & not just like a pipe dream

aw bless i was exactly the same, i remember stumbling across the site very early on in my research and thinking 'what on earth are all these CCs for?' lol! you'll soon get the hang of it hun but just as a very quick starter for you:

CCs - are cubic centelitres, basically the weight of the implant, so a 200cc implant is quite small compared to say a 525cc implant however, the resulting cup size can vary between ladies (just to confuse you further!)

Profile - this is the projection of the implant. you tend to have low, moderate, full and extra full, low lies flat on the breast and the full ones stick out further

Placement - the placement of the implant is determined by your breast shape, overs sit above the muscle and unders sit under (obviously!). your surgeon will determine what's best for you but you can read up some more on the pros and cons of each placement as you do further research. :)
