How practical is having a BA with an 18 month old?
I'm hoping to have my BA end of October. My Son will be 18 months old then. He still wakes in the night for a feed and is a total Mummies boy and I was just wondering how those with children have coped.
I do have my other half at home but he has Crohns so is limited to what he can do, especially if he is having a flare-up. I really really want it done soon as we have getting married in May so want them to have settled in time for that but not sure if we will cope ok between us.

It will be very hard with an 18 month old, especially as your husband is limited as to what he can do. You would need extra help with your son for a couple of weeks. If you have a sister, brother, friend etc who could do that for you it might be possible x

There's no way you'll be able to do this alone sweetheart.
At 18 months children still need picking up and careful monitoring. You're not going to be able to pick your baby up for two weeks and you'll be so tired you will need sleep.
If you try to do this on your own, you not only out yourself at risk of possible revision, You would also be putting your child at risk... theres the risk of dropping your baby or falling asleep and them hurting themself whilst they're all alone.
Its not necessary you that going to need looking after after surgery, you'll be fine. Its your baby hun and if your OH just isn't up to doing that then you're going to have to find someone who can babe.

I could ask my sister to move in for a couple of weeks. He will be cared for by grandparents in the day as usual (we both work full time) so would just be first thing in the morning and after 5.30 in the evening x

I think if you have help it will be fine. Yes in the first couple of weeks you are tired and sore and without help i would be saying no way (i know i couldn't have done this with small babies) If your sister will come for a couple of weeks i would go for it

As long as your sister is there first thing in the morning and after 5.30, then you'll be just fine hun
Without her onboard, my concern is for the baby hun. Xx

I couldn't even imagine picking a baby up post op...i'm still very careful 4 weeks down the line picking anything up that is heavier than my handbag. Also even if your sister is there bubbies always want to snuggle with their mummies so you will need to be extra careful even with a cuddle as it will be sore. I think as long as you are aware thats it won't be a walk in the park you will be fine. I have friends that have had BA's with 3 little kids and with help from their husbands and friends have been ok...just be very careful.

You will need someone with you hun I have a 21month old and he loves mummy cuddles this morning when he woke my partner said he was waking round the house shouting mum bless him, he has been trying to get ony lap for cuddles but i think he's getting the idea he can't and stands next to me and holds my hand. It's so hard not being able to give him a squeeze but he's fine as daddy is around to do the cuddling for me xx
