Letting the boobies breathe..?
Is it okay for me to take my Macom off for say i don't know, 15 mins?? every morning and night and then strap myself back in again? Feel like they need a bit of air hahaha! And a bit of a break from being so compact. If this is bad then of course i wont do it Can't harm my babies. Thankyou girlies xx

Re: Letting the boobies breathe..?
good question hun!
and not sure what the 'correct' answer is on this, but i've been letting them breathe after my shower once a day for 10-15 mins or so, especially when i still had dressings on that needed to dry before i strapped everything back up again!
if you're really early post op then obviously try not to leave the macom off for too long, and also don't move about too much while you're letting them breathe, as you do want to keep the implant fairly stable so it can settle.
but i completely understand your need to let them breathe hun, i do it too but them am just careful not to move about too much while i'm doing it :)

I love your new avi Emily! Beautiful boobies! Have you had quite a straight forward recovery?
Hope someone will be along to answer your question soon. Im sure but as long as your relaxed and not moving to much it should be ok to let them get a bit of air but im not sure so see what the post op ladies say :) x

Re: Letting the boobies breathe..?
It would be advisable to follow instruction and keep your bra on 24/7. But if you really wanted to, when dressing in the morning or night maybe take your bra off for a few minutes Emily, but I'd just lay still and let them air with a window open.
I wouldn't walk around without the Macon though. Just lay still so you're not causing any movement of the implant. During your recovery it's crucial that your boobs maintain stability to help them adhere to the pocket. I know how exciting it is to want to get 'em out lol. But honestly babe, the instructions are set in place for a reason and to enable you to get the best from your recover and the best outcome it's best to follow the instructions you've been given. Xx

Re: Letting the boobies breathe..?
Thankyou blueeyedsoul i've been sure to not keep it off for too long and have only really had it off for 5 - 10 mins so far just while sat doing nothing (trying not to move much like you say). I have my 10 day check up tomorrow so maybe its something i could ask the nurse. Fingers crossed everything is all good, i'm feeling fine :)
Thanks Jen!! Yeah my recovery has really pleasantly surprised me. Just my incisions causing me pain and the odd strange sensation. Like i say 10 day check up tomorrow so hopefully everything is fine and i can have a bloody shower!! Haha.
Thanks Cookie. It's only the last 2 days i've been in a bit of discomfort with it, mainly near my incisions so been having 5 mins break. I'll keep all strapped up now and ignore it haha.
Thankyou ladiessssss xxx

If its making your incisions sore/itchy, try popping a cotton pad in your bra hun. It really does help! X

Re: Letting the boobies breathe..?
this will sound a bit gross but some girls also use panty liners to pad out the band of the bra to relieve pressure from the incisions.
i used round cotton pads as well though. but sometimes i would find them falling out as my swelling started to wear off haha!

Re: Letting the boobies breathe..?
I used sanitary towels because they're thicker and gave more of a soft cushion. Just stick to your bra and they stay as a lovely soft cushion. Xx
Re: Letting the boobies breathe..?
Interesting haha! My OH will think i'm going round the bend putting panty liners down there haha, but willing to go anything a go, thanks again ladies, will trail and error them all haha xx

Re: Letting the boobies breathe..?
Im too scared to take my bra off (apart from changing it for a clean one!) but it was lush having my first shower yesterday, 15 minutes of freedom! - But i had been wondering the exact same thing, i will leave it on now i know the reason why
Emily - my incisions were stupidly painful (or what i thought was my incisions!) i thought it was my bra rubbing them. I had to take pain relief a few times because of them and even cried twice. Was dreading my ten day check cos i thought they wouldn't take the stitches out and there was something wrong with them - turns out it was the sticky plaster/dressing that was irritating me all along. Been like heaven since Saturday! Good luck tomo xxx

Re: Letting the boobies breathe..?
Once I was allowed to shower I would let them breath for a bit, but again, only up to 20mins doing nothing. Now that Im past 6wks and have the binder off, I let them out for a little longer, but still pretty much in the sports bra 23/7.
I used round cotton pads on my nips and incisions to help with the chaffing. If they dont stay in place, use a little bit of micropore to stick them down and stop any friction (obviously well away from the wounds!)

Thankyou Charli for all the tips. I have cotton pads down there as we speak and it's definitely eased the irritation. Who would of thought eh haha xx

Re: Letting the boobies breathe..?
I love the cotton pads - but they imprint on me which makes my strange boobs appear to have extra large nipples or depending on where i put them two or three nipples when i take my bra off haha x
