SWEAT UNDER BOOBS!!!
Hi Ladies, I'm just over 4 weeks post op and over the last week started to do some exercise, just treadmill, as this was advised during my 3 week post op check up. The trouble is my boobs get really sweaty underneath, which isn't too much of a problem as I'm at home so I can shower straight away and dry my scars off with the hairdryer. But I'm starting to worry now with all of the hot weather we are going to be getting, and I'm going on holiday in 3 weeks to Malta (very hot), there's going to be times when I can't have a shower straight away and the excess sweat on my scars might cause an infection. The last thing I want is to get an infection when I'm healing so well. Has anyone else suffered 'sweaty boob crease'!!! xx

Re: SWEAT UNDER BOOBS!!!
I find it makes them really itchy. Just make sure you keep as dry as pos and dont itch! xx
Re: SWEAT UNDER BOOBS!!!
Its normal babe and its fine as long as you keep yourself clean as you are doing by showering at the end of each day and thoroughly drying the wound.
Infact, researchers have actually found that sweat can promote healing! But leaving sweat to linger is not good... Like I said if you shower at the end of the day its absolutely fine fine.
You can read about the research HERE

cookie - I managed to break the skin on on little patch the other day. It was bleeding a little but seems ok. Should I be worried. It was after Id been training for my 3 peaks challenge and was all a bit sweaty and yuck. I must have scratched it by mistake xx

Thanks for your replies xx That's really interesting about sweat actually helping to heal wounds. Looks like I'll have to keep taking a dip the lovely cool swimming pool on holiday though........oooooh what a chore!!!

If the tissue looks clean and there's no pus there at all it'll be fine lovely. Whilst you have an opening there though its best not to put anything perfumed on it at all - no oils or moisturisers and no public swimming pools or saunas or jacuzzis. Once its healed again, you'll be fine.
Just keep an eye on it and ensure its kept clean hun. Xx

You'll be about 7 weeks post-op then hey? Glad you got the all clear babe.
I'm actually half Maltese myself but have never been to malta and have just recently got back in touch with my family. I plan on heading over there to spend mine and hubby's silver anniversary with my family out there next year and I'm so excited to meet them all. They live in Paola. You must tell me what its like when you get back. Xx

Yeah, I discussed my holiday with Mrs Kat during my consultation and she advised that at almost 7 weeks I'd be absolutely fine, as long as my wounds were healed. The nurse also confirmed it was ok at my 3 week check up.
Wow Cookie, you're half maltese, thats great. Malta is beautiful. We've been going there on holiday for the past 8 years, sometimes twice a year. You'll love it. The Maltese people are fantastic xxx

Re: SWEAT UNDER BOOBS!!!
Yes, my dad is Maltese. I met some of my family when they came over here to the UK about 7 years ago and have only ever kept up any kind of contact through my dads writing home since then. But with FB I was able to connect with them myself and we're now not only cousins, but good friends now too.
Its a sad story about why I'm going to Malta as well.
My nan and grandad moved to the UK, my nan had 8 sons and when she was 58 she was diagnosed with a heartcondition with no hope of getting better and she wanted to go home to die, which she did. My grandad was supposed to follow her out there once he had everything cleared up here but she'd sadly died before he got the chance. My grandad then found he had stomach cancer and was very ill. He moved in with my family and we cared for him till he passed away. My dad always wanted to go back to Malta to see his mums grave, I suppose its his way of saying a proper goodbye, but he never got the chance. He too has a heart condition. Had 2 heart attacks and a stroke and in no fit state to fly so his hopes of ever seeing his mums grave himself are gone now. My dad is very ill so I decided that next year I'd go over for him and go to my nans grave, put my dads rosary that my nan gave him on the stone and take pictures for him and say goodbye from him.
Sad in a way... But happy in another way. As I say goodbye to my nan, I say hello to all the new family I have. Xx

Oh Cookie that is such a sad story, and I'm sorry to hear how poorly your Dad is. I'm sure he'll find some comfort in knowing that you've been to his Mums grave. As you've said though, it's also lovely that you're going to meet some of your Maltese family. I'm sure it'll be a very emotional trip, and after going once, you'll return again and again xx
