Iron levels and op
Hey so I had a natures call to do a health questionnaire for me and I'm on iron tablets as I'm just above being anaemic and basically she saying I have to do bloods on the day to make sure haven't dropped as the recent blood yet I have showed no improvement , does this mean my op could be cancelled on the day ?
I'm going to up my Iron tablets to two a day as dr told me to up to two if no improvement and tomorrow / Friday I'm going to buy foods with vitamin c to Leo me absorb it and spinach and dried fruit red meat , eat cereal etc but will this improve me a lot as I don't want my op cancelled especially on the day :/
Pretty much need to know how to improve them or keep them the same ?!

Re: Iron levels and op
I have struggled on and off with my iron levels since I was pregnant in late 2011, I was told to take iron tablets with orange juice (something to do with the iron absorbing and it being less harsh on your tummy) this may not be true but maybe worth a try :)
Hope your levels improve soon tho and fingers crossed that it won't affect your op

Re: Iron levels and op
It doesn't necessarily mean your op will be cancelled lovely, but if your iron levels aren't within a reasonable level then they may postpone for a later date when your iron is levels are better.
It may be an idea to work with your GP now to help get your iron levels to where they should be lovely. That way you get the best advise and care.
Hoping all goes well Sophia. Xx

Erm I'm not too sure if they will cancel hun, but When I was pregnant and anaemic I was told to drink a glass of orange juice with my tablet as it helped absorption of the iron x I really hope they pick up hun xx but you mustn't take any vitamin supplements, only food and drink xx

Re: Iron levels and op
Lol x spinach has a massive iron content, although it's pretty tasteless. But I'm sure you could chuck it into some stir frys or use it as a bed for some fish with a nice sauce x
