Watching BA surgery take place Empty Watching BA surgery take place

Post by Mrs_B_24 1st June 2013, 7:36 am

Hi girls, is it just me or is this normal. I've always been Squimish (not sure how you spell that word) and since I've booked my BA I can't think of anything worse than watching a BA take place on a TV documentary or something like that. Maybe I'm stupid for not watching what's going to happen to my body but I feel like the least I know/see the better. I think if I watch it it'll make me panic even more on the day. Is anyone else like this? Xx

When I booked my BA I went online and came across some videos on you tube! I did watch them, all of them lol! I don't know why, I didn't really know what they were going to do to me. But curiosity got the better of me lol xx

I don't want to watch either babe. I know all there is to know from researching so watching surgeons cut into someone else's body to perform the procedure is something extra I didn't feel I personally needed. Xx

Haha I'm squeamish too, I don't even watch horror films let alone a real BA taking place in YouTube lool, but for me, the worst thing is the cannula and the fact it will be in all night!! Eww makes me feel funny lol... For me I know my surgeons the expert, he does it daily so that's for him to see and me to know nothing about haha xx

The clinic I am going through, Aurora have their own Youtube channel. I have been watching my surgeons videos on there for probably the past two years (not just surgery videos, but other info about BA's as well). For me personally, this has put me at ease as I have seen how he performs in theatre and I know he is excellent at what he does. By the time I got to my consultation I knew I wanted to book him. It's a personal thing though, not everyone wants to or needs to watch! xxx

Hi guys,

I am the most squemish person ever. I fainted watching an episode of Casualty once! I hate blood, mostly other people's, however I typed 'boob job' into Youtube looking for video blogs of people who've been through the surgery and up popped one showing me surgery taking place. I cringed inside but made myself watch it and I survived. It wasn't exactly enjoyable viewing but also not awful and I don't really mind knowing that's what'll happen to me. Don't worry, you won't be awake for any of it so I really don't think it's necessary to force yourself to watch these vids xx

Thanks everyone, I don't think I'm going to watch it, as daisydee says, ignorance is bliss. But I'm the same as you Jen about the cannula, that's guan freak me out. Now I really am being thick now but is the cannula the same as the drain or as well as? Xx

No the cannula is the thingymajig that they put in your hand to put the ga in and then I guess the rest of the meds such as anti sickness.... The drains are in the boobs I think to collect the excess fluid? If that's wrong please let me know lol xx

i personally found them really interesting and a bit of an anti climax tbh, it's a very straightforward procedure! I found it very easy to watch on youtube, and it did make me feel better knowing exactly what would be happening :)

The cannula thing in your hand is fine, u barely feel it - and I HATE injections, I fainted last time I had blood taken! Plus it means your not having separate injections, mine stayed in for about 24hrs and I was given anti sickness drugs through it.
I didn't have to have drains, so don't worry to much, you may not have them either. Xx
