Post Op - on your own or not on your own?!
Evening ladies,
Just wanted to know what the thoughts were on being on your own post op? I was really wanting to do this on my own (with the forum's support!) but the clinic has recommended I have someone to look after me. Am I deluded in thinking I'll be ok for the two weeks recovering on my own? (was gonna just fend off friends and family by pretending I was ill!) Would be great to hear everyone's take and experience on this? Btw I'm newly separated from the hubby, and no kiddies so can get away with doing this on my own without being noticed! (I think!). On a scale of 1-10 how hard did everyone find the recovery? Did having someone physically there make all the difference? Be great to hear your views! Thanks!

A full anchor uplift is a big operation babe and you will probably need help for at least a week.
For the first 24hrs after surgery when you go home you'll need someone with you throughout the night too.
After a week you should be fine on your own lovely, but may still need a little hand with things here and there depending on how well you heal. Xx

Thanks Cookie, will have a good think about who I will ask, I'm doing this for me and was hoping to avoid having to justify why!! I found your packing list and "what they don't tell you" post really helpful btw, really helps me to prep! I feel the more I know the better! Thanks! X

Being on your own after the first few days isn't too bad as log as everything is within easy reach, but there's a lot you won't be able to do yourself like ironing hoovering heavy lifting, so if you can have someone there for at least the first few days then maybe someone close by for when you need help xx good luck.

Re: Post Op - on your own or not on your own?!
Thanks Lisa, I was going to do a huge spring clean before I had the op, and do internet shopping/delivery over the two weeks for anything I need. I did read a tip somewhere about having everything at hip level so I don't have to reach up! Cheers for your msg, will consider having someone over for the first couple of days, I think as I'm newly on my own I just wanted to prove to myself that I can do anything on my own! ( but maybe not this!) :-) xx

I was the same. I didn't keep it a secret but I also didn't want people to think I did it for attention or anything. But the GA really knocked me out for the first couple of days x I was lucky I had my eldest daughter at home for a week x

Thanks Lisa, I guess I don't know how I'll react to the GA so I should prepare for that. Just didn't want to have to disturb my best friends, they already look out for me so much! Just saw your ticker, how are you doing now that you're 6 weeks on? Congrats on the new boobies, great profile pic, you/they look awesome!!

You need someone with you for the first 24 to 48 hours AT LEAST x
After that, providing everything is going okay, you will probably be okay

No way on your own after a BA and uplift.. I couldnt even cope on my own after my revision! You need someone for at least the first 48 hours... I couldnt even get up to the loo on my own in the first 24 hours after my op.. I was so sore and so wobbly on my feet.

Ok really does sound like I'm underestimating how much help I'll need in the first few days. I've read quite a few diaries with people saying how little pain they were in when they woke up but I guess thats different to actually getting yourself out of bed and being dizzy on your feet. Thanks for the msgs girls, am gonna be brave and ask a friend to stay with me for a couple of days! Xxx
