Dark skin and scars
Hi ladies, just reading my Nuffield info, it says that "dark skin" scarring may remain "thick and red"!!!!! Does anyone have medium skin tone and how is ur healed scarring?! And what is the definition of "dark skin"? I am mixed ( half Indian and half white) so will my scars settle do u think like they should?!
Also my dad told me he had keloid scarring, am I likely to get that?! Thanks everyone x

Re: Dark skin and scars
Keloid scars are more common when you have dark skin babe but that's not to say you will have lovely. It is something you should however discuss with your surgeon especially if you've had any problem with any other scars you might have. Xx
Re: Dark skin and scars
I thought keloid scarring is more common with people of black origin, or ppl with significantly dark skin. I have olive skin and the scars so far are ok, nice and neat... Is that ur skin tone ballet babe? Do u have any other scars, from childhood or something? Maybe if u do, these might help u guess how u heal?? X

Re: Dark skin and scars
I am olive ish Ballet (not as dark as you I expect - just a pinch of Italy) and I have never had any problem with scars. In fact I would say I heal really well.
Everyone is different. But if you've healed up nicely with cuts/burns and things before you will probably be fine!? Plus they are such neat small scars these days!

Re: Dark skin and scars
By "thick and red" they mean keloid scarring which is when your scars permanently stay very thick and raised. Anyone can get keloid scarring but its more common in people from black or Indian backgrounds. as you can see im dark skinned and my scars are really flat. i was also worried about this but i have other scars on my body that are flat so the surgeon said my ba scar would be the same. do you have any other scars? That will give you a good indication. you're more than welcome to see my pic trail as i have pics of my scars on there.
Good luck babe! Have you got a date yet? Xxxx

Re: Dark skin and scars
My sister is adopted and she is oriental and she has a really bad Keloid scar on her chest. It started as an acne spot and she picked it and the scar grew. Its quit obvious bless her. Not all oriental, asian or black people get them its just chances are higher. xxx
