Poorly the week leading up to my op
I am full of cold. :( Really hoping the surgery will still go ahead because I would be devastated if not. I have only just found out that you aren't supposed to take ibuprofen before surgery..I took some last night. :/ what painkillers can I take? xxx

Paracetamol, lots of fluid , hot lemon squash or hot water and slice of lemon, rest and healthy food, lots blueberries, kiwis, and oranges for vitamin c , and veg soup for nutrition . X

Aww bless you chick, there seems to be a lot of it going around atm! Just focus on getting better, even if it has to be postponed (and i'm not saying it will and i touch wood that it wont) then it is a small price to pay for your health =] wish you a very speedy recovery tho x

Thanks ladies. I will pick up some vitamins on the way home. Always eat plenty of fruit and veg anyway (other than the two naughty cakes and some chocs I have had today due to it being my last day on placement ;)). Might go the gym I think as well as exercise is usually good for the immune system xxx

No, no vitamins hun, just healthy eating, hot water and lemon and that's it, even vitamins and fish oils you can't take leading up to op xx

And gym a no no, you actaully weaken your immune system by doing a workout when your unwell x body needs rest to recover not putting it under strain x

Gym and workouts are great for keeping fit and good for your immune system and yes boost it when you're well, however a gym routine when you're feeling poorly is not going to do you any favours. X

Re: Poorly the week leading up to my op
Hopefully it will pass by op day. I also delevoped a cold last monday and freaked out, I drank fresh orange by the gallon load and drank a mixture of fresh lemon, honey, hot water (and a dash of brandy at night) for a few days its zmazing how quickly it can go. By saturday it was almost gone so yesterday my surgery went ahead fine even though was still a bit sniffly. Nurse wasnt bothered when I mentioned id had a cold she said 'who hasn't'! I also had a facial steam 2/3 times a day using menthol crystals which are a very potent vicks like substance to clear congestion. Im sure you will be okay xx[i]
