What are the chances of being told still no wires?
... after six weeks? I'm four weeks in and am so *over* these horrible bras. I've got my six week check (in two weeks, go figure ) and really hoping I get the go ahead for wires. I know we're all different but what are the chances..?? xxx

It really al does depend on your individual healing, I was given the go ahead but only short periods to start off and gradually building up over time. To be honest I could ONLY wear them for short periods to begin with anyway and even now I favour my trusty comfy sports bras x

Why are you not allowed to wear them, is it because of the scars? x

More and more women are having to wait until 12 weeks now (me included) so be prepared for that. But you might be given the go-ahead. Although like mrsball says, they're very uncomfortable at first, especially at 6 weeks. x

I'll prepare myself for disappointing news then. Thanks girls xx
I think it's partly to do with scars and partly to do with needing softness for the implants to adhere and find their place before being pushed and moulded by wires... Is that right? X

Agreed. It seems to be that general advise is a 12 week period in sportsbras now. When I had my first BA over six years ago we all had a 6 week time span in sportsbras, but its becoming increasing rare now to have someone out of their sportsbras at six weeks.... In saying that its not totally unheard of and there are still women being given the go ahead, so its possible hun.
Try not think of your sportsbra in a negative way though babe, I know its hard to find things to wear to cover them (Triumph Triaction Extreme is great to be able to wear almost anything with though) and its an exciting time to get into pretty lingerie, but think of your bra as part of your healing. Its serving a purpose to enable you to get the great boobs you paid for, so if you do have to continue wearing them for a further six weeks, its not such a bad thing... It just means your boobs will look all the better by the time you get the all clear for bras.
Got my fingers crossed for you though but don't be disappointed if its a no babe... Its not all bad. Xx
Re: What are the chances of being told still no wires?
Aw I totally understand the want to get your new boobies into a lovely sexy bra, it's not exactly the reason we had them done to show them off in a sports bra. However, whether you get the all clear in two weeks or not, you will get the all clear eventually and then you can get into the sexy bras for as long as you want to, you'll be surprised at how much you love the sports bra and keep going back to it, even when you don't have to wear it.

Although, they need to be "auppo" braa. So they need a seem running up the middle. A cami won't do x

Not unless you get the all clear from your surgeon hun. X

Obviously, you must be healing very well. I wouldn't worry hun. If 6 weeks is the advise you've been given 'by your surgeon' then that's the advise you should follow. Our surgeries are tailored to each of our bodies hun so be happy you must be healing very well! X

Nahhh... I think for a lot of us, especially those with small boobs, we pack our bras out so much it actually hurts, so when you have a BA its just nice to have that shape without all the padding and they can just sit in comfort.
You might read a lot from early post-oppers how much they want out of their sportsbra and into pretty lingerie... Speak to us oldtimers who have had our boobs a while and mostly all of us will tell you how much we now adore our sportsbras
Wired bras ain't all that! Haha. X
Re: What are the chances of being told still no wires?
Haha, thanks cookie.
Yup I am reading a lot of these ladies are at wits ends with their sports bras and i'm sure i'll be the same when its me in their positions now but at least for now i can look forward to them.
Any suggestions what type of bras/brands are the best? I know its a little early to be thinking about bras seeing as I havent even got an op date, but this girl is keen!!
Thanks in advance. x

Re: What are the chances of being told still no wires?
The most popular are the Macom, M&Ss front zip bra, M&S also do two high impact bras for £25 which is good value, the Triumph Triaction extreme and shock absorbers. These are all excellent choices and will serve you well throughout your recovery hun. X
Re: What are the chances of being told still no wires?
Thanks for the advice there cookie.
I will make a note of this for when it really matters.
I hear the macom bras dont go by cup size but band so you dont have to buy lots to ensure you have the right size for when your boobs keep changing size in the healing process. Is this correct? and will this have to be an internet ordering job or can i buy these in stores?
Thanks again in advance.

Re: What are the chances of being told still no wires?
Hi,
Macon has to be ordered online.
Funny thing is-my Macon is sooooo comfy and my shock absorbers feel really tight.... I didn't try any on when I went shopping, thought it would fit nicely.
So def try on the sports bras..

Re: What are the chances of being told still no wires?
Ok thanks for the advice there kenzie1985 :D
Ill also ask my surgeon what he recommends I wear aswell and come up with a decision sooner the time. Hoping to book for August time as thats when I would reach my goal savings for the op and emergency back up money, just incase!

Re: What are the chances of being told still no wires?
Macom are sized by the band hun, they fit all bust sizes so you don't have the worry of what that might be.
If you order from Macom and type MyBreast into the promotion code you'll get 15% off the price of the bra. X
