Should i worry about BA numbing nipples?
I told a friend about my BA plans this week and she asked if I was worried about loosing sensation in my nipples. I haven't discussed this yet with my dr but hadn't really thought too much about it.
Has anyone had a negative impact on their nipples????

Re: Should i worry about BA numbing nipples?
Every woman will be affected differently but in my case, I had totally numb nipples for the first weeks post op, since then a bit of sensation has come back but I really hope it's going to improve more...this is something to consider before having a BA I suppose.
I actually will be devastated if my nipple sensation doesnt come back eventually, it would be a vey expensive price to pay for having bigger boobs but even so I wouldnt regret my BA.
Also the bottom of the breast is VERY numb for now and it's really weird until you get used to that feeling, but it's all worth for a good pair of

Re: Should i worry about BA numbing nipples?
In all my time being her (over 3 years) I've known of only 2 women from thousands who have lost full sensation and the risks are higher for those having areola incisions.
Its best not to go into this surgery blindly hun - there IS a risk of sensation loss, but the risk is small as you can see from what I've seen for myself above.
I have lost some sensation from my left nipple, any sensation at all took a whole year to return and then when it did, I can now no longer feel light touch, its numb to being touched lightly, but it reacts to temperature changes and I can now feel a hard pinch, after 3 years, this isn't going to change for me.
What you should be prepared for is that it can take up to a year or more for full sensation to return, anything up to two years and after that, its very unlikely sensation would come back but for the majority, sensation is felt a couple of weeks up to 3 or 4 months after surgery. Xx

It is possible to lose sensations in your nipples completely and you have to decide if this would be a problem should it be permanent. I know I lost sensation straight after the op and it took a year for my one nipple to regain sensation. The sensation was slightly reduced permanently.

I have lost sensation in my left breast but am pretty sure its coming back slooooowly as I can sort of feel it when I touch it now but my left boob at the bottom is numb but I love my boobies soo much I haven't even thought about it or been upset so its how u feel after x

Re: Should i worry about BA numbing nipples?
Thanks for that everyone. Any thought of BA has been about gaining boobs - if that makes sense, rather than loosing something! I wouldn't like to loose sensation, but I know it's a risk, perhaps more than I knew. Much like every other aspect of this surgery, it's that good old phrase that's becoming familiar "everyone is different"
Nobody seems to be saying I wish I hadn't opted for augmentation - although sensation is still incredibly important.
