Re: walking in to theatre room!!!!!!
I read one recently about someone who couldn't go through with it after walking into theatre but rearranged the operation for a time when someone could go with her (she went completely on her own). But this is common to have to walk into theatre and get on the bed =] x
Re: walking in to theatre room!!!!!!

Yes you have to walk into theatre and get on the bed, no one's allowed with you to do this. It's very scary and I bawled like a baby on the operating table - the room freaked me out. So big and so many people with masks and gloves on!!! but they knock you out quick lol x

Re: walking in to theatre room!!!!!!
My friend had her BA on Sunday just gone and she went to Abbey Pines in Manchester (with Transform). She said the anaesthetist came and fetched her from the room and walked her down to the room and it was the theatre but she said it was very quick and theres two or three nurses in with you to calm you (she said they were asking her about her holidays lol)
I'm very nervous about this (in fact its the only bit I feel scared about ATM) - I've never been put to sleep so this is all new to me!

Re: walking in to theatre room!!!!!!
It's not usually in the theatre room itself, it's a smaller room attached to the theatre room thought the double doors. The anathestia room. So yes it's clinical but I never heard of being in the actual theatre room where they operate so you see 'everything'.
I could be wrong but as I said from my experiences it's always been in the anathestia room. X
It's noting to worry bout anyway Hun you'll have nurses with you and to hold their hand if you want to... I did with my very last re op ! X

The nurse walked me down to the anaesthetic room and I had the anaesthetic in there, it was all very relaxed, can't remember anything untill waking up in recovery!

Re: walking in to theatre room!!!!!!
I walked into the theatre, hopped on the table and was knocked out pretty quick. I was scared and wanted to run away, but I calmed myself and told myself it would all be over soon and I'd be waking up with boobs.
Re: walking in to theatre room!!!!!!
You'll be fine lovely. If you're very nervous you can request something to help ease your nerves before going but you must tell the nurse straight away on admission.
Some will will be with you as you walk to theatre, I blubber like a baby hun but the staff are well trained to deal with frightened or tearful patients as they see this ALL the time. They really help to try and soothe you talking to you the whole way, which isn't far at all and then no sooner are you on the table than you're fast asleep and in what feels like the blink of an eye, you're wide awake again!
I think alot of us are pretty nervous about the part going to theatre. That's when it really hits you that surgery is actually happening, but you really will be just fine. If you are a nervous patient, just do be sure to let them know straight away babe so they're aware and can help you through. Xx

Re: walking in to theatre room!!!!!!
I must admit I got nervous when I walked into the operating theatre as I wasn't expecting it - and lay down on the table. But they were talking to me about all sorts and could see I was nervous and a minute later I was waking up again in recovery.
So try not to worry too much and think about the result.

I didnt have a sedative from the hospital but I am on a lot of medication including diazapam which is probably what they would give you and i also take morphine babe and was allowed to take my meds before surgery, I spoke with the anaesthetist because I'd had a really bad case of sickness after my previous op. he assured me all would be fine and that anaesthetists have lots of tricks up their sleeves to help prevent sickness. I woke up feeling great just like he promised.
So just speak with the anaesthetist. They know far more about these things than surgeons do... You'll be fine
RE

Re: walking in to theatre room!!!!!!
hi heidi2909!
no worries so much, it's gonna be better and easier than you think!
I was waiting in my room for about 1h before they took me down to theatre, I walked with a lovely nurse all the way, once there I had to lay in a bed in a little room where my anesthetist distracted me with many questions meanwhile she sent me to sleep, all is too quick to even worry about it. Then I woke up in the recovery room with a lovely sleepy and warm feeling and back to my room!!
You'll be fine I promise! x
