Macom... Empty Macom...

Post by sianyoungx 28th February 2013, 4:16 pm

So I know I've still got over 8 weeks to go but I am sooooooooooo excited lol, especially cos my friend has just had hers done with the same surgeon! .
..I'm not going to buy any bras until nearer the time but am definitely going to get a Macom as I've heard such good things from you ladies here, and also because I like the idea of not having to worry about cup size (my friend has already gone through three different bras trying to get the correct size).
I was just wondering for when I do come to buy a Macom: do I need to buy a size up for my back? I'm currently wearing a 34B so I was thinking about getting a medium (34 back) and just bra extenders? I tried on the M&S zip up bra the other day and the 36 was tighhhhht so now I'm wondering if the Macom will be too tight and should I get a Large (36)?
Any opinions about Macom sizing please share! xxx

Hiya,

I can help you as experienced v similar problems!

number 1) M&S back sizes are really really small, so generally you have to go up one anyway- I would say that just because you fit the 36 there, doesn't mean your size has changed elsewhere.

number 2) I wore a 34/32 before op, and the medium fit me fine- I was even done up on the tightest hooks (there are 2 hook options as opposed to regular bras which have 3)

Don't worry about the m&S- although if its tight now, you probs would want a larger band width for straight after your op, unless you are going to just wear the macom for 2 weeks, then change to the sports bra.

Good luck!! So exciting! :D

Silverpanther, I'm glad you think the M&S was tight I was thinking I must have put on about 4 stone cos theres no way I'm a 38 back lol! The thing is, I've never worn a sports bra in my life so I'm not even sure how tight they're meant to be but it was tight under my arms too (the 36) so I think I'm gonna avoid that one until I'm more certain of my post op bra size. As for the Macom, I think I'm gonna go for the medium as planned and wear that for the first couple of weeks - do you know if bra extenders would work with a Macom as I know they're front fastening?xxx

Yeah don't worry about m&S!! Also good call on waiting until you know your size to get a generic sports bra- the worst thing would be to make yourself uncomfortable with that on top of everything else!

I'm not sure if bra extenders come long enough- the front fastening has maybe 15- 20 hook and eyes up the front, so I'm not sure how that would work (I've never used bra extenders before)...

Maybe buy a large too and check the returns policy, then you could return it if it was too big?

As I said though, I'm usually a 32/34 and the medium on the tightest hook was right for me, with swelling, and as soon as the swelling went down in week 3 the macoms were too loose around the ribs- so I reckon you will be fine without extenders.

Ah I see what you mean..I reckon I will order the medium a week before my op and see how it fits pre-op and if I'm concerned I can always swap it for a large!
Thanks for the advice, its just all so confusing lol! What colour did you go for? I'm thinking maybe white or black?...x

I got nude and black as I wasn't sure what I'd be wearing! Nude can go under anything, but black is FAR more sexy (if you can call them that at all!)
