Re: How should I massage my boobs??
If you have textured implants Totty it may be worth asking why they need massage?
Textured implants are made not to need massaging at all. Infact stability is required for these implants. Generally only smooth implants need massage, so if you do have textured, I'd definitely be asking your surgeon why he feels massage is necessary. Xx

Re: How should I massage my boobs??
Some information here hun incase you wanted to talk with your surgeon about this and not just have to say "cookie told me to ask'
Source HERE
If you do your own research lovely, you'll find the same information all over the net. Xx
Textured Breast Implants vs. Smooth: The general consensus is that textured breast implants should not be massaged because this may lead to interruption of the implant adherence process. The goal of textured breast implants is that the implants should adhere to underlying breast tissue. Though, some plastic surgeons might advise massage for certain patients with textured breast implants. In this case, the patient should ask the plastic surgeon why they are recommending massage. Smooth breast implants are often the type of breast implant that is recommended for massage.

Re: How should I massage my boobs??
You won't have messed nothing up hun.
Massage for textured implants is only really advised from what I know if you have stubborn breast implants that need encouraging to come down, but that's only after they've been give time to drop hun, or if early CC is there or suspected.
As you're so very early in your recovery I can't see that you would be having a problem with either, but then I'm not a surgeon and your surgeon has assessed your boobs, but if he wants you to massage textured implants he really should have explained why, so you'd be right in asking lovely and don't worry, you've done no damage at all. X

Re: How should I massage my boobs??
Yeah I had a read at the thread that you posted earlier so thank you I think I know the difference. Random question though what's meant by extra high profile will that mean they won't look as natural? X x

Re: How should I massage my boobs??
Extra high profile on the right body type will look as natural as any other profile hun
Just as an example look at the diagram below
As you can see....although the extra high isn't shown on there it would be the next one up from high profile, so as the implant profile gets higher, the narrower the implant and the more forward projection you get. The lower the profile the wider it is and the less forward projection you get.
If you have a small frame with a small breast width then extra high would be the best fit for that body type to achieve a more natural look. Xx

Re: How should I massage my boobs??
Phew brilliant thank you sooooooooo much. I tried not to get too worried about profiles etc so when I had different brand implants on the day to the ones my surgeon usually used I wasn't fussed but was just curious really. I never wanted to be huge and he's done exactly what I've asked so can't complain. As ever girl on here just looking forward to them fluffing and dropping. Big boobie love x x

Re: How should I massage my boobs??
All sorted and he meant just massage bio oil on them but only on the top and not to massage them loads as you're right they are textured so don't need it. Phew all good and I've massaged them with bio oil but not near the incisions :0)
Thanks girls x x x

Re: How should I massage my boobs??
hmmm, no idea whether mine are smooth or textured. Went to see nurse the other day and I asked if I can massage and she was so vague but said yes, didn't tell me how or anything? Mine are being quite stubborn I think as having to wear band longer due to them not dropping properly. Does massage help them drop? Not sure how to massage really? xxx

If your 'surgeon' hasn't advised massage babe, DONT massage.missindependant88 wrote:hmmm, no idea whether mine are smooth or textured. We use textured implants here in the UK. Its very rare a smooth implant is used, none in the UK of the British women we've had here and most recently polyeurothane implants, neither texured or polyeurothane should be massaged at all unless specifically instructed to do so by your surgeon. Xx
Re: How should I massage my boobs??
Yep like cookie says, they will be textured so you should massage them unless told to, your still really early pre op and it takes months to see change :) xx

Oh I see, well I asked the nurse and she said I could to help them drop but was so vague. Will they drop naturally then? She said to push them down? Have e-mailed my PC to ask the surgeon. just want them to drop already! xx

Re: How should I massage my boobs??
Your nurse doesn't have the authority to advise on your post-op instruction babe. She's not a plastic surgeon and unless she's filling your surgeons advise which she isn't because you haven't you haven't yet approached your surgeon about this then she shouldn't be doing this at all
Do you know a recent study showed that 1 in 5 women have had problems after surgery through being badly advised from someone other than their plastic surgeon hun? 1 in 5 is BIG odds, isn't it hun!
You've done the right thing in emailing your surgeon. And the instruction she suggested is right for stubborn boobies, but she had no right suggesting this to you.... Unless your 'surgeon' feel feels its right, it really shouldn't be done babe. Xx

Re: How should I massage my boobs??
I was told to massage last time but this was a last resort to get my boobs to drop and to try and "break" the capsule on the breast I had CC in, I was shown by my surgeon how to massage and knowing it can help them drop ive been sooooo tempted to do it this time lol but I def wont be unless my surgeon says so xx
