Reduction advice
This is a completely different question but wondering if anyone can help?
I have currently had my 1st consultation in preparation for my reduction surgery. 34HH down to DD/E. My surgeon is a general surgeon, who specialises in breast surgery following mastectomies etc. This is going to be NHS surgery due to pain i suffer from size of breasts. Just wondering if this should be done by a Plastic surgeon or is a breast surgeon sufficient? Littke bit worried, want it done right 1st time. Any advice would be great! Xx

Re: Reduction advice
I'm sure if you're having your surgery done on the NHS a surgeon who is qualified to perform the procedure will be chosen for you.
Do you know the name of your surgeon Suzie? If you find out the name of your surgeon you can then checkout their qualifications on the GMC register. If you need help checking, if you could just let us know their name, we'll take a look for you Suzie. Xx

Re: Reduction advice
From what I've found your surgeon actually specialises in breast reconstruction, which is a major plus when researching for a surgeon doing a procedure as technical as a reduction. She also specialises in breast surgery. So I'd say you're in good hands lovely and have nothing to worry about. Xx
Re: Reduction advice
Ahh Thanks that makes me feel better!
She was really nice a easy to talk too, I'm sure she is fine but when it didn't have her registered with BAAPS or BARAPS i was a little worried.
So excited but so nervous at the same time, your site is great i have been having a read. Do you have any videos on Reductions & nipple grafts, i've had a look on you tube so far.

Re: Reduction advice
If you were having 'private' surgery then I'm sure you'd research for a BAAPS/BAPRAS member, but a breast specialist who also specialises in breast reconstruction surgery and is currently consulting in the NHS is someone to be trusted I'd say sweetness.
I'm sorry Suzie, reduction surgery is something fairly new to us here, so we dont have any vidoes of reductions. but YouTube is a great tool and im sure youll find all you need on there.
We're very glad you found us though and if you look in the Breast Augmentation Information section of the forum you should find lots of info in there to help you prepare for your surgery and any questions at all lovely, please just ask away. Xx

Re: Reduction advice
hi!
I've had another appointment today to see my surgeons previous reduction surgery results, which i was most impressed with!
I'm a little concerned that they may do a nipple graft although i was reassured this would only be done if the results of a pedicle procedure didn't give the desired look.
Elizabeth hi! What procedure did u have? How long before u felt able to work? I'll probably have more q's, love the chance to chat with someone who has experienced surgery already.
What area r u from?
Suzie

Re: Reduction advice
Hiya, I had a breast reduction from a Kk to a f, I'm so happy with my results. I work in an office so was back to work within two weeks, with some itchiness and discomfort.
I had a hard time of it with three ops in the end and many many apps, but my surgeon was fabulous and that made all the difference. It was a very long hard six weeks or so but I'd do it again in a heartbeat! Can't emphasise enough the Importance of choosing surgeon carefully.
I live in north west London and had my op at bushey spire.
