Oh Maisy its just nerves hun. Most of us have had them at some stage before our ops. Its normal. I think if you cancel now you will lose most of your money . Try not to look into the complication side of things too much, yes they can happen , but for the majority of women they dont. So come on darling, chin up and just picture those lovely boobs you are going to have. Hug xxx

It is perfectly normal to feel nervous hun xx

Although no one wants to be 'the one with complications' you have to bare in mind that you are putting yourself up for major surgery and although rare things do occasionally go wrong xx Hence why we always bang on about doing your research and not proceeding until you are 100% happy xx

Complications can be managed even when they do occur, it just means that sometimes you have to have further surgery to put things right xx

Most people have really successful ops and are really pleased with their results and those that do have complications usually sort them out and although it's difficult at the time, when it's happening to you, you just kind of get on with it xx

My advice sweety would be to have a serious think about whether you ARE prepared to take the risk of suffering from complications and if the answer is yes, well then there's your answer xx

Well, there is a risk to everything you do hun, including crossing roads and walking out your front door each and every morning, but you still take that risk don't you? xx

Only you can make the decision of whether you are prepared to take the risk xx You just have to weigh it up xx complications are RARE, but do happen xx sometimes people are unlucky sometimes people just rush in (like me) xx

You can minimise the chances of complications by choosing your surgeon and company carefully and doing your research but you can never completely be risk free xx

It's just something you have to reconcile in your own head gorgeous xx

You spent a long time choosing your surgeon and aimed to get the best and your surgeon is very good with a great reputation babe, so as far as your surgeon and clinic go, you did good hun....

Thankfully as Kay say said, complications are rare, but they can happen no matter how good your surgeon is. Having read about complications now, you're now prepared though for anything that may happen! And that's a good thing Maisy!!! you're not going into this blind. You know the risks! You're aware of what can happen and you'll know it CAN be fixed if it does happen.

Honestly Maisy, the girls are all telling you the truth, what you're experiencing right now is 'pre-BA jitters' the majority of us get them and wanting to back out so close to surgery is more common than you think!

If you back out now chances are you'll lose all of your your money so close to your surgery date, not that money matters right now, what is important is how you feel about this surgery... What I'm trying to say is you'll lose your money now so forget that. Do you still really want this? Does your want for your new boobs outweigh your fear of complications? If your answer is no 'right now' then there's no need to be rash and cancel right now.... Give yourself time, read through the surgery stories and maybe chat to the girls here, then if its still a no just before your surgery, then cancel lovely... If you want it more, then go for it and enjoy!

We're here for you if you need us Hug

Maisy,
Like everyone had said these worries are completely natural, the whole time before my BA I kept thinking " I bet it will be me that gas complications!" But as the ladies said, there's risks with everything, as long as you're prepared, and have researched, there's not much else you can do.

You have to decided how you feel about it all.

I'm just scared to death it'll be me. I am going to get them done the more I think about them now the more I think want them and complications are not as important you're right as getting boobs. I know I'll feel happy when they're done it just the longer I wait the more scared I'm getting ill be a nervous wreck by the time January comes. Thanx everyone I know you're all right and weighing it all up like you say makes it all clear I've wanted this de years and if I have something wrong it call be fixed can't it. Completely natural! Just weigh up the pros and cons of it all yes I have more chance of complications than most: I have tuberous breast deformity which is a really complicated thing to operate on because they aren't just straight forward BA's because of the constricted breast tissue, i'm having anatomicals so there is a chance of it flipping and they aren't going to look natural when i lie down, and I have to have overs (which again increases the chance of the anatomical flipping because there is more muscle to hold it in place) because i would definitely get double bubble with unders (again because of the breast tissue constriction) but again overs increases the risk of getting CC. But for me, i've decided i've picked the right surgeon (who is an expert in breast reconstruction for oncology patients), i've done the research and know that what he has recommended each time has been for the best possible result, and i know that anything will be better than what i have now yes so if you can weigh it up like that, it will really help to put your mind at ease  besides you have all of us here to help you along the way x x x

I felt exactly like this and I even felt like running out the room when I was lying in the anaesthetic room! I have had complications and need a revision in March but I dont regret my surgery for a moment. It was the best thing I ever did and the revision will just tidy things up for me.

I know I can't add much to what the other girls have said, but just know I was totally like you. I was so scared up until they put the mask on me to put me out. Had I not paid all that money that was non-refundable, I probably would've backed out. As I was there I couldn't believe what I was doing to myself and had to hold back tears I was so scared. But when it was done I couldn't believe how scared I was and how it was NOTHING like I expected at all. I am beyond happy I had it done and you will be just fine. This is so so normal, and it is nothing like you make it out to be in your head. It is definitely serious stuff, but you will get through it and you'll be so much happier when it's done. If you've gotten to this point it means you want it bad enough, so don't worry about making the wrong decision :). Hope you feel better about all of this, hun, we're all here for you xx

Feel like cancelling Empty Re: Feel like cancelling

Post by sbsxx 3rd January 2013, 8:44 am

Ladies, pleeease help.

I am booked in for a ba on the 28th jan in london. The surgeon advised on 350cc over the muscle and she said the p-ure implants would be better.

But, now as the time is nearing...i feel like picking the phone up and cancelling.
All sorts of rambling thoughts are going through my head..

Do i really want a ba?
Why am i putting my body through this?
I am pooping about the recovery side of things? (Numbness, morning boob, pain etc)

As i will be paying in cash, the surgeon said i could pay on the day..so its not like i will lose money..

I have always wanted a ba....but am sooo nervous.

Pleease ladies, any advise would be appreciated. shrug

Hi sbsxx, it's natural to have all these thoughts and doubts pre ba, I was the exact same, this forum was a great help to me, I am now 5 days po and everything went great, I'm at the recovery stage at the moment of numbness, morning boob etc, which to be honest isn't the nicest part of my boobie journey but I don't regret having it done for a second I'm just super excited to have boobies for the first time in my life and can't wait till they feel part of me x

Big hugs Hug there is no denying it is a scary thing that we choose to do but as with everything we do in life, there are always possible downsides or complications, but I remember my surgeon telling me that you have more of a chance of being knocked down by a bus than some of the complications that come with surgery.

It is completely normal to feel like this, but I can assure you that once it is over you will think why did I ever have doubts.

Post by COOKIE 3rd January 2013, 10:21 am

Sbsxx - you still have plenty of time to go back and see your surgeon to go through your concerns and find some comfort and reassurance before having your BA lovely.

As you've read from almost all if us in this thread the feelings you're experiencing right now are completely normal! Many of us get the 'pre-op jitters' just before surgery can come up with all sorts of reasons why we should proceed with it. I've done it 3 times now its never any easier no matter how many times you do this.

The reassurance you get from having another consultation before surgery is like nothing else babe. Its like a calm that comes over you after being given the chance to dot all the I's and cross the T's and if having another consultation just isn't possible then maybe give yourself a week to mull it over. Read through the surgeries stories our lovely ladies have left for us to read here, take time to sit and write down the pros and cons of having the surgery and not having the surgery... Really sit and think hard if this is the right thing for you.

If after a week you're still feeling as anxious and tearful as you are now but still feel you want your BA, then maybe talk with your clinic about putting back your surgery date for a while to give yourself a little more time to prepare?

If you feel its something you really do want though lovely it really isn't as bad as you might be feeling and its the most wonderful feeling waking up with your new boobs... We're here for you all the way hun and any concerns you have we're gonna be there to help you through them, so you're not alone babe, we'll be your support network and no matter what time of day or night it is, there's generally always someone around should you need us.

I wish you well in your decision sweetheart Hug xx

Feel like cancelling Empty Re: Feel like cancelling

Post by misf1 3rd January 2013, 12:16 pm

I felt the same as you right up until I woke up after my surgery. My longing for boobs was the only thing that kept me going. I'd never had a ga before and I was so scared. I'm also not the luckiest person, so I thought I'd definitely be someone who suffered a complication, but I didn't. My op was great, healing was great and the ga was fine. I think it's a fear of the unknown that makes us so nervous. You may be reading quite a few threads on here about complications or on the internet as a whole, so it may seem like most people suffer some sort of complication. This is not the case, the vast majority of people are happy after surgery so never need to write anything on forums or the internet, so it's only the few that need the support that come looking for help. You don't really read much about how happy people are as they just go back to their lives. For those that have had complications, I've never read on herre that they regret their surgery, they'd have done things differently maybe, but they still love their boobs. There is a small % chance of a complication and if anyone falls into that % they can always fix it.
I've never been so proud of myself as I was when I woke up after my ba as the emotional stress and sheer terror and nerves was so hard to get through but I did it. I was strong and determined to get my dream boobs. You can do it if you focus on your goal of new boobs. Forget about complications, you know what they are and you can deal with them if they happen. We all get scared this close to the op. Don't give up on your dream.

I totally agree with this!! I even had that thought a couple days after the surgery, looking at my boobs, thinking that it was all over and no going back. Everyone will have a minute at least of regret - you are changing your body - and oddly, even if you HATE your chest (as I did, with tuberous breasts) you'll still MISS it for a minute (or more) when it's gone.

The important thing to remember is EVERYTHING in life comes with risks. You're aware of them. It's normal to be nervous. I wouldn't want to pressure you into anything, but I can tell you I've never been happier in my life, and I DEFINITELY felt the same way as you a few days before my op.

sbsxx I felt like walking out of the anaesthetic room! I felt that I was putting my life at risk for something so silly and potentially leaving my daughter motherless and I felt very selfish to spend so much money ona cosmetic procedure but its all normal to feel like this. In terms of a GA yes there are risks but if you are a fit healthy woman the chance of you dying under a GA are about the same as winning the lottery! You really do risk your life more when you walk out the front door. Having my BA and uplift was the best decision I ever made and I also have the PURE polyurethane implants and I think they are awesome!
