Carrying baby up the stairs!
Me again lol
Do you think I will be able to lift my 11 month old up the stairs and in and out of the car for school run after 2 weeks? My other half is self employed and needs to go back to work after 2 weeks x

I'm dreading not being able to look after my baby but I'm sure my 4 year old will be fine. It's good that the other half can do everything i do for a change.
I was just told to take it easy for a couple of weeks, I could have possibly not heard him as I was in a complete daze and totally excited x

I know that with unders i think you do need to be more careful. I was told that if its sore do not do it and maybe cause my youngest is 2 i was told not to lift her for so long, all week my eldest has been getting dropped off by my husband (hes works for his uncle landscaping so thats been good cause he normally leaves he house at half7) then took the youngest to his mums monday and today and nursery tues and fri hes off tomorrow, but i honestly couldnt look after them god i can hardly look after myself lol and the tiredness is a killer for me xx

Re: Carrying baby up the stairs!
You're generally advised 'no heavy lifting' for 6 weeks post--op
It's difficult for mums though of little ones but you can do as little as possible. Of course lifting in and out of the car after 2 weeks, but do limit the lifting to essential trips such as the school run, but if you can get one of the kids mates mums to pick your kids up for you that would be better for you.
Lifting up and down stairs... You only need to do that once a day, get your OH to do it for you when he's home. The least you do the least risk of putting back your healing.
If you have to lift the baby, bend down, hold close to your body and keep the baby held close tight to you.
If you have any pain do not lift the baby! This isn't just for your safety this is for the safety of the baby too. You risk putting back your healing and also the possibility of dropping the baby, so do be very careful. The guidelines are set in place for good reason, but if you have to bend the rules a little its important you listen to your own body and take things very carefully. Xx

Re: Carrying baby up the stairs!
Thanks cookie, obviously I wouldn't put my baby or myself at risk and your right about the stairs, I suppose I don't need them if I bring nappies etc down. Worried about school run and dont want other mums to know what I'm having done, and doubt they'd notice. Was going to pretend i've been off with flu when booby day comes x

Mr m told me to definitely wait a week and after 9 days I had no choice but did minimal lifting for a few days after that xx

Re: Carrying baby up the stairs!
Hi I've got a 14 month old who is a big boy as heavy as a toddler I can lift him into highchair but carrying him down stairs I have had to do twice since op and although not painful I can really feel it pulling something inside, also lifting him into car can be uncomfortable, my nurse said NO picking him up for 6 weeks if I have to lift him keep him close and my arms close to sides. So I'd say it depends on how you feel listen to your body I have been super active from op day but the one thing I still can't do is hold or lift him xx
