Had 6 day check today............gutted
Hi Girls
Well i just got back from my first check, im not as healed as im supposed to be. Im apparently the equivalent of anyone else 3 days post-op, not 6!!
Been told to do as little as possible for the next week to catch up on healing. There's no opening or infection but she compared me to the girl who had her op BA the same days as me (who had her dressings off just before me) and she said hers were all healed up!
She said that coz iv got quite a high pain threshold it can be quite detrimental to healing. The other girl was apparently crying and having to hold the nurses hand whilst she took her dressings off, where as i didn't flinch! Apparently this other girl has also been in bed since her ba (lucky her, she has no kids!) but thats impossible for me.
Do you think there could be slightly more pressure on my incisions coz i had such a large implant and it would probably be more stretching on the incision? They're neat a clean, just not healed!
Had my dressings off and new large steri-strips put over. Can shower too as long as i dry my dressings with a hairdryer.
Was anyone else told they haven't healed on time at all? If so what happened?
Love from a gutted Nikki xxx

Re: Had 6 day check today............gutted
its not at all uncommon to have dressings reapplied and for some of us to take a little longer to heal lovely, so dont get yourself upset about this, as i said it's very common
make sure you're eating a healthy diet babe, this really does help to speed up healing and if you can let the wounds get a little air on them once a day. i would leave the bedroom window open and lay on the bed for half an hour a day to let the air get to my incisions.
you'll be OK lovely, the incisions are clean and you can shower next week the dressings will probably be off and you can start enjoying your boobs then hun.
ps. I sent you a PM hun xx

I'm sorry to hear that Nikki. Try to get as much rest as you possibly can, I know its hard especially when you may be feeling fit enough to do things x

Don't try and worry to much we all heal differently. You can't compare your healing o someone else's! Especially by days!
Just try to rest and not strain or lift anything heavy for next few days just to give you're body a bot of recuperating time.
And as cookie says diet is very important, eat regularly nutrious food, protein, and carbs will be invaluable to your healing babe x

Aww hun, sorry to hear that you didn't get the news you were hoping for. The good news is that you can shower and your incisions are doing well, which is a major plus. She shouldn't have compared you to someone else because like everyones said, people heal at different rates. Especially if you have a more busy life than this girl, and children to look after also. I'm sure the size of the implant could play a factor in the slower healing too, but you seem to be doing well otherwise so I wouldn't worry! Try and take it a little easier and hope you feel better about all this xx :flowers:

As the girls have said we all heal differently, and I think being 3 days behind is nothing. If anything someone staying in bed for 6 days after an operation is just as bad as doing too much. It's good for you to be mobile just don't over do it. As for the pain threshold thing even if something hurt like hell I'd not have cried and held the nurses hand. Doesn't mean it hurts more or less, just some hide it.
Re: Had 6 day check today............gutted
Thanks everyone for your reassurance, i did think she shouldn't compare me to someone else. She made me feel like i was the only person to ever have dressing applied a 2nd time!! Thats what was most upsetting i think.
Will deffo be taking it more easy.Got no school runs now as its the weekend!! Woohoo, so gonna rest up as much as possible.
I do eat well, lots of veg and my favourite drink is fresh lemon and manuka honey in hot water so thats gotta be good!(love chocolate but thats a treat, not a breakfast/luch and dinner thing....although i would if i could!! hahaha)
My amazing 9 year old son is doing the hoovering for me as we speak (think he's enjoying it a bit too much lol) so getting everyone involved! Bless them :heehee:
Going back Thursday next week so hoping for a big improvement then.
You guys are the best!!
(Cookie just got your pm, will pop out to get postal check on Monday and post to you Monday if ok with you, thanks a millionxx)

Don't worry too much Nikki x I had the same thing . I am about 2 weeks behind schedule with one of my breasts. It is hard if you can't rest up all the time. Same as you, scars neat etc just one is a bit lazy. Don't worry, just rest as much as you can x x x don't beat yourself up about it. I do think when your pain tolerance is high it can be detrimental ( I am
The same), gives a false sense of security. Rest up x it's only a few days, will catch up

Hahaha!! Thats what my Harry just said to me, as he asked me to lift my feet to hoover under them.... 'Bet you miss doing your cleaning don't you Mum!!' Thing is he's right!! (I am a bit OCD with things tho)
Just told him to leave the stairs, bit worried as it his first time hovering. Give him a couple of days practice and i'll have him on it!! hahaha.
My daughter Amelia was guilt tripped into asking me if she could do anything because Harry was busy hoovering so she's currently tidying the girls bedroom, folding blankets and putting all the toys away. (Poppy's messing it up as she tidies it up! can hear arguing as I type!!
Thanks Ladies!! Hope you all have a fab weekend xxxxxx
(Could get used to this!!! )(

HI Nikki,
I had to re-apply my dressings at least 3 times, after showers, dont worry about everyone else, just worry about you!
