Transform - Day case?? Empty Transform - Day case??

Post by deexx 26th October 2012, 4:55 pm

I'm hoping to book my BA with Transform by the end of the year (I have to wait that long as my next surgeon's appointment isn't until mid-December due to my work).

I live about 150 miles from the Manchester hospital where I'd have my surgery, they've told me that unless I say that I'm staying with a friend of family in Manchester then I'd have to stay at the hospital overnight. I'd much rather stay in a nearby hotel, with my boyfriend (not to mention the price difference between day case and night case!). I told my pc this but she said I'd have to give them an address of someone I know in Manchester, even if I stayed at a hotel and just gave them the wrong address!

Now I don't know a single person in Manchester lol - is this standard procedure for Transform and did you have to do this if you stayed in a hotel rather than at the hospital, or is this just a sales tactic to get me to pay more??

Hi hun
I had mine done with Transform last week as an overnight case but wasn't charged extra for it?! I was quoted the same whether it was day or overnight. If that is the case, have they give you a reason why they won't let you do it as a day case? xx

I wasn't charged for a night case, just a day cAse, I stayed in as the surgeon was running late and then I had drains put in. My co ordinator told ne from the off I was a day case and not to worry and it was the surgeon who would decide if I stayed overnight or not. They did ask where I was staying though ( the nurse did) and I said at the parents just up the road from the hospital ( we did a house swop for a few days!) . I am sure a hotel would be ok . someone on was driven miles home afterwards.

I'm not sure how transform work as I didn't have my BA with them but still I was only a day case and the price was the same but how ever my sister inlaws sister lol had her BA with my breast and they charged her £500 extra to stay the night! Can't see how any hospital can charge extra if your already paying the thousands already GREEDY PEOPLE lol x

Thanks for all the replies :-)

I have been quoted over £4000 for a night case, and £3695 - its ridiculous that each pc seems to have a different price though!

My pc said that if i wanted to be a day case i'd have to give them thr address i'm staying at in manchester but i don't think they'd accept a hotel address...but now its starting to sound like a sales tactic xxx

Tell them that you can't afford the additional expense lovely and that due to the additional cost of an overnight case you're going to have to look close to home with another surgeon as you've been quoted cheaper for an overnight at home with The Hospital group (don't worry, you won't be asked for proof)... They'll soon come around and knock that extra few hundred off for you. Xx

Sounds like a sales tactic babe. i paid 3595 for an overnight case. they said that because they own their own hospitals they don't have to pay to have their patients stay overnight so there's no extra charge like with some other companies. i'd go with cookie's suggestion because they won't want to see your money go elsewhere!

Good luck hun Xx

Thanks for the congrats girl xxx excited xxx I was gonna say what cookie said just simply say I think I may not be able to have surgery with you due to the extra cost and have had an all in price from another company they'd soon offer you the over night stay at no extra charge,,, they want your custom there's so much competition out there xxx hope all works out for you xxx

Transform - Day case?? Empty Re: Transform - Day case??

Post by shellyb 27th October 2012, 5:08 pm

Hiya, had my BA last sat. At my consultation when asked if I was happy with everything the surgeon had gone through I said yes if the price is right. My coordinator said that if I had it done in October she could give Me a discount.
I wasn't offered an over night case only a day. I do only live 20mins from riverside transform so I was fine to go home. She gave me 200 off so that was a bonus.
When I went for my pre op and had to pay my balance I asked if I wanted to stay over night how much would it cost. I was told 300 but if the doctor required me to stay in for medical reasons then obviously it would be free.
These coordinators work on commission so if they think they can get more money out of you they try their luck. So worth saying you'll have to look elsewhereto see if they change their mind. X

I personally wouldn't risk it. They want you to stay quite close justincase anything goes wrong. As if you have said your staying somewhere then gone home you might void aftercare as you were required to stay nearby.
For the sake of one night, hour healteither new boobies... either see if you can get a 'free' stay or I would just stay in a hotel nearby.

I agree with Mrsball, it is so important to be near your hospital for the firsrt night just in case of a complication. You will feel so much safer just knowing you can be back with them quickly if anything should arise. I booked 2 nights in a hotel, the day before (as I had a 7am check in) and the night of my op. I had a good deal with the travel lodge £50 for 2 nights, lovely.

Yeah I will stay to be safe, I'm just one of those people that hates staying anywhere but home... Also 2 babies that I hate leaving. I've booked and paid deposit so doubt I would be able to change anyway. Just need to accept that I'm staying out and relax in hospital and be looked after xx
