It shouldn't be a problem hunny, the only thing is you will be wearing (very attractive) paper knickers for your surgery.
Maybe just mention it to your nurse and see what they suggest. I'm sure you won't have been the only one!

Don't be embarrassed sweetie it's fine Hug I had my period the day of my surgery. You can't use tampons so I'd advise you take your own sanitary towels which you're fine to use during surgery.

I didn't know and ended up having to use a hospital sanitary towel which was as big as a kitchen table! Shocked xx

It happened to me too! I took sanitary towels with me as I knew that I wouldnt be allowed to use a tampon whilst in theatre. I told the nurse and it was fine. Saved me having to do the pregnancy test!

No, as far as I'm aware they don't do any pregnancy tests. You are asked if there's any possibility that you might be pregnant, based on your response, being that the answer would be no, then no test would be done.

If you're unsure, then maybe one would done for that reason shrug Xx

I know they sometimes request a sample to test for water infections before surgery because any infection has the possibility of getting to the implant and the body then rejecting the foreign body. Xx

I think they asked me cos I have the implant in my arm and I dont have regular periods. The one I had before the one I had during my surgery was over 4 months ago so I guess in their minds I could be pregnant and not know so they have to be careful. I know that whenever I have to have an MRI or x-ray (for a brain condition that I have) if I havent had a period in the last 30 days I have to have a pregnancy test. Also when I worked a placement on A&E every woman admitted between the ages of 13-45 was given a pregnancy test and they were never told it had been done unless it came back positive!! It was just routinely tested alongside a routine urine dipstick test!

I have 2 and I'm only 27, had to convince my surgeon that my baby days were well and truly over! He kept saying falling pregnant again will change the implants etc. No! No more babies for me!! Never, no way, nut nut!

Hi girlies

I had to do a pregnancy test even though I said there is no way I'm pregnant as I've got a coil fitted but still made me do one !!! I'm guessing it so that they can be extra safe and cover themselves xx
