Just had my tape off with my local gp nurse, which was agreed with my clinic as 2ht drive there and 2hr back was a bit much for a dressing change.
So they did, she took tape off and replaced my right with microporous tape which is what my surgeons nurse done last time, yet with my lefty she said it still looked a bit tender and red at the edge ( which I can feel) so has left the steristips on and covered them with microporous tape. I shLl go back Thursday which will be one week and have the steristips taken off and just Micropore tape like my right.
So question is re the steristips ok left on for another few days with the tape over?
Do I shower ? I could last time but had just Micropore on them not with the original steristipes underneath.

You're best to keep the wound dry if its not yet healed mrsball... Any moisture is a breeding ground for bacteria so keeping the wound as dry as possible will help your healing. I had a wait a while to shower due to my wounds not being ready at one week either lovely. Xx

Thanks cookie I did think so ... I'm at that stage where I feel 'dirty' where I haven't had a good wash!
I'll wait till Thursday when the nurse will change them again and see how I'm getting on :) x

Its horrid waiting for that first shower but Cookie is right keep it nice and dry.

I had to wait nearly 2 weeks before I could shower! It's awful but when u get that shower its amazing xx

I had my first shower yesterday and althou it felt good to be able to clean properly etc I really didn't like not having a bra on, they felt tender, heavy and a bit sore. Think I will wait until I have been up for 30 mins until having a shower. Think it was a bit morning boob mid shower Tapes off.. Incision question ? 267328
